JA can't do IS image, should I chance it?

Hi,

I was looking at two diamonds on JA. They both look really good in the 3d imaging but I wanted peace at mind with Idealscope imaging to check for leakage as I'm a total newbie. I talked to customer service and they said they actually don't have the 2 diamonds on hand in New York so they aren't able to do the images. The rep told me they look like good selections and can tell if it leaks or not by looking through the table to see if it's dark?!

I can't see any inclusions zoomed in. HCA cut advisor scores them below 2.0. They fit "ideal" proportions cut wise.

The rep told me I would be happy with either of these diamonds, but being a newbie with no point of reference I wouldn't know if it was good or not when I receive it.

I'm trying to buy through either JA or Ritani because they will bill in Canadian Dollars which saves me over 2% in foreign currency exchange fees on my credit card.

Ritani won't do IS.

Any advice?

Can I see the stones? Links?

Can't tell with those pics, especially without any stats. You could request to have them both put on hold, and then share links on both stones if you are worried that someone will buy them out from under you. :shhh:

They can't because they said it's not on hand. Sorry. Okay here are the stats

The stones are in some other country. I would not buy without the idealscope image because many other vendors will supply them. I am not in love with those images, to be honest. I think you can do better. Have you looked at Enchanted Diamonds? They have idealscope images posted on some of their stones. If you use their search, check show only diamonds with pictures.

What is your budget? Maybe people can suggest some potential better stones.

This is one of the lower priced ones at Enchanted Diamonds, but it also does not come with an idealscope image which probably means it is not accessible. However, I think this stone looks better in its images plus it has good numbers. It's probably a step down from the WF diamonds I posted, but it looks like a better risk to me than the JA diamonds.

There best stones with idealscope images are too close to the lower priced WF stone for me to recommend them as I think the WF diamonds are better at that price point.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. My budget for the diamond + setting is $3000CAD which unfortunately because of the Canadian dollar falling out of par with US is only about $2400. But I also expect to pay a fat tax (13% + 6%(maybe)) at the border so my budget is only $2100USD. I know it's a stretch so I've been trying to look for a deal.

I've been heavily considering JA and RITANI because they bill in $CAD and it saves me another 2% in fees from credit card currency conversion.

The falling price of oil has really made this a lot harder.

Ritani diamonds I had been looking at are

and

But they couldn't do IS either.

Those might be okay but I will take a quick look to see if I can find a better one, closer to ideal cut range.

What kind of setting are you wanting? Because that has a big effect on the diamond price.

She likes solitaires and likes cathedrals. I was going to try and find something simple and not too expensive. If budget allows I'd get platinum, if not I'd try to find a retailer that has nickel free white gold (ritani does it)

Yeah thanks. They only do images if you request it. I looked into their settings and couldn't really find one I liked without it being really expensive. That one you showed me is too high for sure.

If they will set the stone in a lower head, then that setting would allow you up to $1500 for the diamond. That way, the .5 I VS ideal cut stone would work. I would try to do that because I think getting a great diamond the most important when setting in a solitaire setting.
