In about 6 months or so I''m upgrading from a 1 carat to a 2 carat stone for my e-ring. Been doing my homework and probably will be visiting every single jewelry store I can before August comes. I saw a K SI2 this weekend and it was absolutely gorgeous. The warmth of the color was definitely prominent but that''s what made it so pretty. Am I crazy for thinking this? Should I go for a J instead?

Not in my opinion! There are some of us who love the warmer colour grades, I have one myself and love it! I assume it is a round diamond? Was it GIA or AGS graded? It would be good to know, as some grading labs are said to vary in accuracy. I would see if you can look at these colour grades in the size, lab grade and of similar cut to make absolutely sure of what you want, but if you buy online, many of the vendors have a good return policy if you don't like what you see. Of course you could go for a J, but if you find your dream diamond and it is a K, then good for you, and also for appreciating the beauty these colour grades have to offer!

I thought you might be interested to see this link from Good old Gold. Although you cannot judge diamond colour accurately on a computer monitor, you still might enjoy the pics!

Actually it''s a princess cut. I couldn''t stop staring at it. The jeweler showed me an H color to compare and I could only see a very very minimal difference. I originally wanted to see a J but they didn''t have any princess cut J''s. I can''t stop thinking about it!

That might possibly show more colour than a round, but if that is what you like, then fab!! Is there a chance you could get this actual diamond??

Yes! I''m most likely getting this by August of this year as long as there aren''t any big financial roadblocks. The one I saw this weekend was about 7800k and after a bit of negotiating, seems like I''d be getting a great deal. Btw, I love Pricescope. This place rocks and everyone is so sweet. Can you tell I''m a newbie?

I really hope you can get it, if you are in love with it! Do you know which lab graded the diamond? This can have a considerable bearing on pricing. I am so glad you like it here, we are a happy community who love to learn and help, but we do have fun at the same time!

don''t we Ellen???

The title of your post caught my attention! I love me some J/K eyeclean SI2''s! :) I personally do not think you are crazy at all for finding beauty in this color/clarity combination. I just upgraded my 1.59 J/SI2 for a 1.82 K/SI2 and I loved my old stone and love the new one.

I agree with Lorelei, knowing what lab graded it would be important to me. I''ve never seen a K princess in person. But my K RB is beautiful. I could tell a difference between my J and K, but I actually love my K more, something about the "personality" of this stone is more appealing to me. And I think even if for some reason the current stone doesn''t work out, or isn''t available by the time you''re ready to buy, you''ll be able to find a beautiful stone with your awesome knowledge from PS and through one of these amazing PS trusted vendors.

What shape/color/clarity is your current 1 ct. stone? Just curious what kind a changes you''re making.

I know! I''m so excited I feel butterflies everytime i think about it. Right now I have a 1 carat, I, SI2 princess cut. I adore it so it''s going into a pendant. Hopefully upgrading to 2 carats will fulfill my size want.

So now the jeweler emailed me saying she found a 2.50 L SI2. Eek!

If you love it, go for it!! I fell in love with my K. I took mine to 2 appraisers, and they both said it was just a hair away from a J. Maybe your future stone is too? Good luck and keep us updated!!

Ok, see, going from an I to a K isn''t going to be as shocking as someone going from an F to a K. And I finally understand that the color of a diamond isn''t what makes it "sing" to you. It''s the cut. If you LOVED the cut of this K you looked at that is very important.

Go for the K if you''ve seen it and loved it. I''ve seen some incredible K stones on here. Coatimundi has a huge K set in a Tiffany-style solitaire that''s one of my favorite rings on PS. Can''t wait to see handshots!
