I''m working on a rose gold bezel pendant with an ideal cut round diamond, about .4-.5 ct. Any opinions on how low to go in color? I thought J might be as low as I was willing to go, but of course the value in a K is hard to resist!

I found pics of Shimmer''s amazing J transitional cut in a rose gold bezel ring...Shimmer, if you''re reading this, those pics make the diamond look so incredibly white. Any thoughts on going one step lower?

Thanks!

FWIW I would totally get a K in rose gold, even go L-M. I have an ideal J in platinum and it never looks yellow.

Hey! I saw your topic and was like ''I have a J in rose gold!!!'' then I saw that you mentioned me, so thanks!

I now have a J in platinum (cushion) in addition to the J in RG. I also briefly had an L in WG, which was too tinted for my skintone (it matched!). The RG makes the J look super-d-duper white, whiter than the platinum and close to my GIA F color graded earring studs. Part of that may be the bezel covering the side warmth.

To answer, I would totally go for an ideal cut K in a RG bezel!

totally go for it! i have a K AGS000 in yellow gold prongs (now I''ve reset it into 18k yellow gold semi bezel) and I''m sure it still looks antiquey white still (white enough for me), so I wouldn''t hesitate at all in putting J-M in yellow or rose gold

I''m definitely interested in what you decide to do.

I''ve been wanting a rose-gold dbty bracelet with K-L oecs. I''m imagining (with photoshop help

) that the tint of the stones and the tint colour of the gold will mute each other somewhat, so it wouldn''t be blazing-white against a darker background but a sort of "togetherness", if that makes sense?

I wonder if a K would still be colourless enough that it looks WHITE WHITE WHITE?

I have an M (Cut by Infinity) in a platinum bezel pendant. It''s lovely and the color is not noticeable at all when it is being worn. Don''t be afraid of the lower colors in a pendant because it''s just not viewed as closely as a ring.

Somehow I knew what you guys would say but it''s still really helpful to hear it, so thanks! This is my very first PS project, despite being a member since the dark ages. The only friend I have who loves to talk diamonds as much as I do is in the "no-lower-than-H-camp" so I sent her over to PS. Maybe we can convert her.

Shimmer, I''m so glad you saw my thread! Your RG ring is one of my faves and is in the RHR "idea" folder.

And so interesting that the J looks whiter in RG than platinum. That was just the kind of observation I was looking for!

Yssie, my thoughts exactly, although I can''t imagine it would look white white white. Unfortunately, I''ve been living with an E for my e-ring so that''s my frame of reference.

Swingirl - great point. I''m convinced!

I''ll be sure to update you on my progress and post pics of the final product. Now I''m off to re-read all the K threads on here...
