I''m new to this thread and I am amazed at all of the wonderful information I see on here. I have a quick question to ask help on. I recently purchased a 1.51 J VS2 Ideal cut diamond. I was one of the ones that went to the store convinced I would never consider a J color, but after she brought it out next to an H and I I could not see the difference. Especially $1500 worth of difference. I just wanted to get everyones opinion on the diamond I purchased. It is being set in a 6 prong superbcert tiffany engagement setting. Here are the GIA report specs:

Shape and Cutting Style: Round Measurements: 7.35-7.47x4.59 mm Weight: 1.51 carat Proportions: Depth: 61.9 % Table: 57 % Girdle: Medium to Slightly thick Culet: NONE Finish: Polish: EXCELLENT Symmetry: EXCELLENT Clarity Grade: VS2 Color Grade: J Fluorescence: Strong blue

Also, any ideas on pricing of this ring. I paid right at $7,000 for the diamond locally. Do you think I got ripped off? I wasn''t for sure....I kind of made a fast decision since I am planning the engagement for this weekend. Thanks!

You titled this J color ok or no good. Sure it''s good! There are lots of ladies on PS who have J''s and love them, I think there may be a thread on J stones if you check the forums. They are all beautiful, I know Mara recently upgraded her diamond size and chose a J and is thrilled with it . J stones aren''t inferior, just slightly warmer and there are many who prefer the warmer colours. As to price and specs I wouldn''t want to advise you, there are far more knowledgeable people out there and I am sure you will get lots of replys and advice. I think it comes down to if you love your stone and the color looks good to you then that''s all that matters. I am still learning myself, the people here are great and know their stuff - you have come to the right place for help. I am sure your intended will be thrilled you bought her such a lovely diamond and took such care in choosing it. Good luck with the proposal

I am so far from being an expert but from the research I have done, the fluorescence in your stone will make it appear whiter, although J is still in the near colorless range so it sounds wonderful to me!

If it''s a done deal, why question it?

if you love it enjoy it

strong blue! strong blue! I bet it's a lovely stone...and it's fantastic that you have a J with strong blue flour. I saw a huge H with strong blue this weekend and it was crystal clear and very very white!

Strong blue really is good in these cases. I had a 4.50 carat H / SI2 with strong blue, and it made all the difference.

I bet it''s bright white with that strong blue fluorescense!! I''d love to see it, cam you post a pic??
