J color + Fluorescent + Super ideal cut = Pure White in face up position?

Im planning to buy a pendant for my mom's upcoming birthday.

My budget is limited and i'm considering to get her a low color with bezel setting that will completely cover the side body of the diamond.

Will a super ideal cut J color round diamond face up as white as a D / E / F? If not, what is the lowest color i should get?

Also, should i consider medium or strong blue fluorescent to make the diamond appears whiter without negative effect such as haziness?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

HI Kayi,
When grading diamonds for color, comparison with other stones of known grades is an essential tool.
Generally speaking, a J color, when held next to a D-E-or F color will be clearly different.
But many people would not notice tint if viewed without a comparison stone. Of course, some people are super sensitive and would be able to see the color sans a comparison stone.
I love fluorescent J color diamonds- as I have witnessed so many J colored diamonds that do show improvement in pretty much any lighting which would be bright enough to allow you to observe differences in color.

Wife's recent ring has a K VS2 with Medium Blue fluorescence from Brian Gavin's Signature Blue range (super-ideal cut) set in 18kt WG.

It faces up pretty darn white (almost as white as the non-super ideal GIA XXX G SI1 no fluorescence I had set in an 18kt WG anniversary ring from a few years ago).

Looking at the K from the side I can only detect a hint of warmth compared with looking at the G from the side.

If you are worried about tint, moving up to an I (or higher colour) grade might be a safer bet but you will almost certainly have to go down in carat size to fit the budget you set for yourself (even with a fluorescence discount).

Both diamonds were graded by AGS and i know AGS grades color softer than GIA.
The color looks very different in photos, which one should i get? Thanks.

The link you provided for the larger stone was dead to my browser. Found it after a trawl through the inventory lists. Both are fine to my eyes and are beautiful BG Blues.

If you are not bothered by the price differential, the bigger stone is the one I'd go for. Dropping down in clarity to find an eye clean SI1 will help out with picking up carat size.

Not so sure about your statement that AGS grades colour softer than GIA. Both labs would grade to very similar standards and if a stone were to come back from both labs with a colour grading 1 grade apart (one lab grades it at the high end of the lower grade and the other grades it at the low end of a higher grade) that is within industry norms and what you would expect given that grading is done by humans rather than a machine.

The I color stone will be visually larger than the H, so I'd personally choose the I color one. I think it is a safer choice than the J. I think maybe you should send for the stone to look at it before setting, though, if you are worried about the color. (My personal experience and observation in general has been that AGS is softer on color when the color is borderline. I still buy AGS graded stones, but I always make sure my stones are at least mid to high in the color range. Ask them.)
