Well, like a good PSer :bigsmile: I did some research here first and saw that the Longines brand is OK. :bigsmile:

He has been wanting a nice watch for a LONG time. He likes nice things.

And I sold something that gave me that money all at once and I knew immediately what to do with it. :))

He picked it out. :))

I gave him a card for Thanksgiving with a check indicating the amount and to the check I had taped a bunch of watches that I cut out from some men's magazines I bought for just that purpose.

He was totally surprised and at first he didn't think we should, but I insisted.

So Black Friday weekend we went to a couple of stores, he tried a bunch on, and that was the one we both liked the most. Even though he had tried some that were more expensive.

That is so nice, CJ! The style reminds me so much of what my dad wore (he was always concerned with style and fashion—I don’t mean that in a negative way!) for the last 20-30 years. It’s such a classic style and so wearable/versatile.

It’s so loving and kind if you to have sold something of yours to buy something for him this season. Reminds me of The Gift of the Magi, and Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street giving up things they loved so they could buy special presents for the other. Your post here truly warms my heart. If this isn’t what the winter holidays are all about...I don’t know what is. Merry Christmas to you.

monnie - it was so much fun for me when I realized I could do this for him. He does so much for me, you know? I wish I could do these kinds of things all the time.

Your dad sounds so stylish. I love it.

And I love that you love the watch. It's so DH. He's super clean cut, one of my favorite things about him. It looked really nice on him.
