It''s my birthday....and I will be celebrating!

Just thought I would mention that I did a little blingage shopping for myself a little while back. Some of you know this already, but I have been a bad girl and not posted the pics yet due to problems with my camera and I am imposing on my 19 year old to help his ditzy mom to help me....I bought a 5 carat tennis bracelet!
A store by me is closing...actually, it is a whole chain of their store are closing and being converted to another similar dept. store. I completely got swallowed up by the sparkle! I made the fatal mistake to try it on...and well...I got out my plastic and now its mine...

So, I can''t and don''t need to ''get'' myself anything per se, but if I decide I ''want'' a little something, it will probably be more along the lines of something to help organize my home office. I know that sounds corny or weird, but when spring hits, I HAVE to purge, organize, and get rid of stuff.
I seriously would be embarrassed if anyone outside of my family, saw my office. With all the daily stuff as a mom and delivery person for our flower shop, I am so spent by the time I get home, so it has evolved to its current state. I mentioned to my 11 year old--who is very helpful and doting to me--that if he wanted to do something special for my birthday, he could help me for a little while--1 1/2 hours, no more--work on my office and he said sure. Isn''t that a great kid?!
Today is a day for me to be grateful I am alive and walking, breathing and able to do pretty much what I want with little effort. I say this because a week ago, a dear, dear friend of our family suffered a life altering dirt bike accident and it is looking like he will now be a paraplegic with limited feeling in his arms and shoulders.
I cannot tell you how this has impacted his family or us around him. He is the dad to 4 little girls--the oldest is 9 1/2 and the youngest is 10 months old. He is a distant cousin to my husband like 2 or 3 times removed but we know him from church. I have cried, mostly out of frustration for me not knowing how to help more. My kids and I shopped for them on Monday. My eldest son is getting their car smogged tomorrow and on Sat. morning, we as a family, are doing a cleaning job on their house. All this so that his wife can focus on him and the kids...but somehow it doesn''t seem to be enough...y''know?
Jonathan is a fighter and wants everyone to just be grateful for what we have and not to pity him. So...today I am celebrating my birthday, yes, but also I am making every attempt to honor my friend''s wishes. God-willing, he will gain enough sensation to work with his hands on the computer. And I know his family will be ok...somehow.
So, today, my only request to you is to make time to hug those folks in your life that make your life that much better...hug them...dance a little silly dance with them and celebrate the fact that you have what you have.
My hope was to lift and ease my friend''s plight as much as I could, and in turn, this horrific event has him getting me to stop and celebrate ALL I have...I thank you ALL for being my cyber friends.
I give to you this day my gift of utter appreciation...my heartfelt thanks go out to you...

I am going to lounge a teeny bit in bed...this like NEVER happens...then its off to the gym--hello--I am NOT getting any younger and I always feel better when I go. Then, I have a trip to Costco for a cake. The kids love the cake more than I do and we usually get one so that everyone can sing the happy birthday song...y''know. I am going to caution them to NOT try to round up 46 candles though. I can get a pretty big cake at Costco, but seriously, I am not sure it will be enough when the firefighters come as a result of lighting the candles and setting off the fire alarm in my house--ha! ha!Date: 3/23/2006 12:20:00 PM

So DB, what are your birthday plans??
I have a bikini wax appt on Friday cuz she wasn''t avail. today, which is fine. My 15 year old has a therapist appt. a little later and my 17 year old has a job interview right after, so life goes on. I am making a lasagne for the family. It will have sweet Italian sausage and extra lean ground beef in it along with spinach for color and vitamins and it will all be low fat, even the ricotta. My family loves my lasagne...
I am sincerely just really happy!

My favorite brother-in-law called from Colorado Springs to wish me well...that was such a sweet surprise! His birthday was yesterday and we have a unique friendship I feel largely in part to how close our birthdays are...
I got rolling on the lasagnes so that I could hurry and leave to Costco for the cake...a bit sidetracked, but that''s A-ok!
I made 2 4 quart sized lasagnes and 2 1 quart sized in to go containers for my friend''s family who is going through so much. I figure they would probably appreciate a little homemade love from my home to theirs...
I guess I get such a rush if I can share something of me or something I made or do something that lightens someone''s day...it''s just so easy to do...

It has been a great day...made all of the lasagne casseroles I planned on and had a lovely time with family...what more could I ask for?! I feel so rich! And very blessed...
It has been a very wonderful day...I couldn''t be happier...and I didn''t get any fancy presents, but I have my loving husband, kids and dear friends...I didn''t need a store bought present.
My 15 year old brought me home a wonderful gift...he is passing algebra! His language arts teacher emailed me that my son is making a turn for the better as well.
I could not be more happy than right now...seriously!

Thank you SO much!!! Oh, what an incredibly nice surprise!!! I did have a choice day! My kids sang happy birthday to me, my eldest son brought over a strawberry cheesecake--yummy--and a hoot of a card.
