It's incredibly hard being a man trying to get my head around this whole diamond thing...

 don’t upgrade the hubby just the diamonds, mine is the same way. He doesn’t like jewelry and I know upgrading most likely wont ever happpen unless I do it myself
It's a good thing that I never felt the need to upgrade my e-ring and I adore it. Lately though I'm getting too many ideas for supplemental diamond pieces because of PS.

Thank you, however she’s the real gem. I only wish I could do more. No diamond can outshine her beauty, warmth, and kindness.
That's so sweet! Sounds like she'll treasure her stone and you'll have trouble convincing her to upgrade in the future =)2

It definitely shows that you did your due diligence and picked a stunning stone that she will absolutely love!!! WF is such a great company to work with, or just even chat with bc they are all so pleasant!

Hi,

I write this having been on a long and eye-opening journey of choosing a diamond and setting for an engagement ring. I've always bought from Tiffany until a few months ago, when I gifted a diamond pendant necklace. I noticed the clasp loop was quite flimsy, but thought nothing of it since heck, it was Tiffany, so surely they know what they're doing. The pendant and necklace fell off, lost forever, and resulted in lots of tears. Tiffany was no longer an option.

Fast forward some more, and I wanted to finally get my most amazing and lovely gf a ring. I knew about BlueNile, so went online and tried to make sense of everything. I ended up shortlisting a few diamonds within budget, researched shipping and duties, picked a setting... and then wanted to see what else was available.

That's when I discovered PriceScope... and haven't slept since. I spent weeks absorbing all your amazing and informative posts, searching for pictures of settings, etc. I also learnt the importance of getting the right cut. My BlueNile choices seemed rather amateurish, and I decided to start over.

Enter Whiteflash. I didn't like the name (still don't)... it sounds like a bathroom cleaning product, or a medical grade toothpaste. However, the amount of information presented transparently is incredible. I kept going back and forth between PriceScope forums and Whiteflash, learning how to evaluate scope and ASET images, and all the various other numbers and parameters. I ended up buying this:

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3983294.htm

It's rather small compared with some of the crazy doorknobs I've seen on these forums. I'm also nowhere near the most profitable customer Whiteflash has had. I've also been rather demanding through chat and email (being located on the other side of the world doesn't help), especially well after-hours in Texas where WF is located. However, all the lovely people I chatted with were professional, friendly, helpful, and did exactly what they said they would do. Not a single person let me down by not meeting commitments, etc. I corresponded with about 7-10 people and they were all flawless.

I wanted to write this note of thanks to both Whiteflash, and all of you that post on PriceScope. The ring is still in transit, somewhere in Indianapolis. I'm terribly excited and can't wait to watch my gf's eyes light up with happiness. She deserves only the best, and all of you have made that happen.

P.S. - Is it wrong to think about upgrading the diamond while another is still in transit? :)

Hi,

In my opinion it is even harder choosing the right ring.

Generally all round diamonds look similar, even a Very Good cut diamond will sparkle like heaven and make the tears in her eye, as I always say:
Most of the people will not know to distinguish between a Very-Good and an Ideal Cut diamond just by looking at them, being of the same color and eye clean.
Not talking about those who rarely clean their diamond ring, the diamond accumulates dust paste from the und3erneeth and loses 80% of the brilliance and life!

I think, if I may, it is even harder to decide which engagement ring style will please her more, will it be a solitaire one diamond? a halo engagement ring
Which makes the diamond look much bigger, a Rose gold vintage style or other.
If you'll know the trends of engagement rings in 2018 half of this mystery puzzle is solved

Whiteflash bathroom cleaner lol It's obvious you've done your homework, that's a beautiful stone, I'm sure she'll be thrilled. Save the upgrade for an anniversary.

Never wrong - but do enjoy what you have purchased! I am sure your GF will appreciate all the effort you put into this - bring back pics!

It is perfectly reasonable to plan our future.

So you were the one that purchased it! That exact diamond was one of my final picks, but opted for a different stone. Congrats!

Thanks for the kind words!

949r6 - I’m sorry for inadvertently selecting something that you wanted.

I also did manage to propose, and it went well! The diamond shines Even in the dark!

I’m curios now - Which did you ultimately go for? I’m sure it is just as lovely!

The stone looks fantastic. I went with a Brian Gavin Signature 1.04, G, SI1. Ordered it early may and still waiting for the setting to be made. Awesome to see your stone in real life photos. Post some more!

Lovely! She will absolutely love it!

I am convinced she was as happy with any diamond at all:wavey:

@nm1213 you nailed it - classic setting brilliant bright diamond. It looks gorgeous on your fiancée’s hand. Congratulations to you both. What wedding band will she wear with it?

OH good thinking! She has the most gorgeous bands. Please come back and show us what you go with!

That ring is just stunning! Size and upgrades come to different people at different times. My guess is for right now she is probably thrilled - and no wonder! At least you know you have the ability to upgrade at any time in the future should you decide to.

You did a thorough, thoughtful job in selecting her ring. Let her bask in its glory!!
