I went to Houston.
Denise and Jamie (Whiteflash) invited me to the Restaurant on Westheimer Road.
We had a load of fun, this girls are so cute and we really talked about everything.
After, Jamie drove me to the ''''target'''', as the sun burned my skin and we bought some sunblock and after sun.
Poor me.
On Labor day, I met Brian (so sorry that I didn''''t know about this special day, it''''s different in Europe).
We had a very interesting conversation about diamonds before to look at them, you can imagine how excited I was.
After that, he showed me the diamond I didn''''t want to see, you know, the 7.xxct...
It''''s unreal. The colors coming out this diamond... oh my gosh!
I''''m not able to describe it more, sorry.
After that, a 1ct looks like a 10 pointer.
Then he took 5 diamonds within my budget and put them on the table.
Without saying who is who.
He let me play with the diamonds, turn off the light, use halogene, office lighting, day light...
He really wanted me to take all the time to choose, with all kind of lighting.
In the 5 diamonds, I picked out the 2 New Line... without knowing it because I didn''''t want to choose with the scope.
Don''''t think they are more beautiful, it isn''''t that that catched my eye.
My impression is that the New Line looks more masculine, the Classic is more feminine.
But both cuts are sooooooooooo perfect.
The 2 diamonds I choosed were the 2.123 I-SI1 and the 2.15 I-SI1.
As I only need one, I finally took the 2.123 I-SI1 because even with the loupe, it takes a little time to find inclusions.

I''''m so happy!
Brian insisted to look at them very long.
If I had not looked so long, I probably choosed the 2.52 J-VS1 (also a true beauty)
but Brian helped me to slow down and look very close at all the diamonds.
The 1 I bought isn''''t more beautiful than the others, it''''s only the one who corresponds to my personality I guess.

Now I''''m burning further under the sun of South Padre Island... waiting for the setting.

The people at Whiteflash impressed me so much.
It''''s really a great experience to do business with Denise, Jamie and Brian.

So, don''''t buy online, go and meet them, meet the diamonds!
If I had bought online, I was probaly choosing the wrong diamond for me.

Thanks Whiteflash!!!

Stephan, what a fun trip!

Alj and I are going in a week or so to visit WF as well.

I want to see probably the same 5 diamonds you saw, including that 2.50 J VS. Wonder which one I will choose! It''s not for now purchase anyway, but just curious to see what my eye likes in person.

I also want to see that 7c monster...oh I can''t wait!

What a fabulous stone you chose! What''s the final setting selection and when will it be done?

Stephan,
That is sooo exciting. You are so lucky you got to go there in person. I would love to see that 7 carat monster. Can wait to see pics of your ring once the stone is set. Use sunblock with at least 30 SPF!!!!

Are you sure for the 7ct?
In french, we call it ''masochiste'', I''m sure you understand.

If you go there, try to play the game to look at them without scope first.
Then tell me if you agree with my M/F idea.

It''s a very tough choice!

I don''t know if you will see the 2.123ct (my baby), if you do, try to find the inclusions.
Incredible SI-1.

Beware!
You will LOVE the size of the 2.52!

congrats!! my BF and i were in WF Sunday! we had a wonderful experience as well!!! it was so amazing and unexpected. he wanted to know what i was looking for in a diamond. no stats and specs. only in my heart what i wanted. then Brian let me look at 10 or so diamonds all in my price range. he let me play in the different lights as well all without letting my know the specifics of each diamond. i narrowed it down to 2 diamonds. one 2+ ct. ACA round and one 2.75+ ct. Asscher. i unfortunately left (after 3 hours of an amazing time) without a decision between the two cuts... so much to decide...

i loved the experience and glad to know you did as well.

ACA, totally.

I think my favorite part of Stephans story is that he was taken to the "target".

Target is perhaps the best place ever.

After we took him to eat ... we took him to my fave store ... Tarrrrjaaaaaay to buy Aloe Vera and sun block. I didn''t dare take him to Wally Wolrld. That''s too much of a culture shock .. tee hee.

If you''re reading this Stephan.. you better be wearing your sun block !!!

Congratulations, Stephan! Thank you for sharing your story!

Denise: You took the words right out of my mouth...anyone who owns a beautiful diamond from WF should definitely pronounce it: "Tarjaaay"!

Thank you all for the nice comments!
Valeria, about the Asscher, I''m perhaps not a fancy guy.
When I see a perfect round, I realize that I prefer them.

Update about the setting:
The custom setting would be to heavy, and as it is custom with tons of platinum, it would cost much more than an existing setting on the Whiteflash-website.
It would be silly to pay for a setting without sidestones the same than a setting with 1ct sidestones.
The design, the work and the metal are of course worth the money but I''ll go with
the Platinum knife edge X-prong.
It isn''t the most masculine, but hey, you are talking with Queen Mum!

But a picture could not tell us the beauty of this diamond.
It should be a 3D movie.

I don''t know about "too bad". She''s right about it being a culture shock. It seems like a totally different demographic and frankly some of the stuff is similarly priced, as far as general household items. Target totally has great clothing and fashion-related stuff. Total chick store.

I think you might have a point there sir, a movie is in order. Get on that!

QM:
THANKS much for the report on your trip to Whiteflash! I am fairly new to PS, and am weighing all the pros n cons about buying online. I can honestly say that I''m leaning towards it, and my e-vendor favorite is Whiteflash! I had no idea that you could acutally visit their location & see all their *glorious* offerings in person! I do know that I want a princess, but am unclear on which setting (I''n thinking simple platinum). Trying them on would certain help! Hmmmm.... I will be in Houston week after next on business, and would gladly set some time aside to visit with the folks there. Who did you work with to set it up?

THANKS in advance!
