Istanbul?

Has anyone been to Istanbul? My husband and I are considering meeting family there this summer for a family reunion of sorts.

My FIL lives in Dubai and a few other relatives live in Bahrain and Turkey.

I''ve heard Istanbul is very Westernized and is very friendly towards Americans. (my husband is Persian, so I really ask for myself and our daughter)

Any input is much appreciated!
