Do you realize that some vendors would have called in some of the ones Jon eliminated and you would have been choosing the best of the inferior stones? It is true that there just aren't as many pears, so there aren't going to be as many to choose from with particular specs. Given the time constraint, I don't think you can do better. If you wanted to wait 6 more months, you might could find a VS2. But that size just under a carat is very desirable, and those are not all that common, either.
Just so I am clear, did your girlfriend tell you that she prefers a pear shape?

She is a pear fan 100%. There has never been any doubt about that.
Thank you for pointing out GOG's work with filtering the stones for me. Honestly, at first I didn't even realize they were doing it and I assume my posts sounded as if they weren't looking as hard as they should be. Now that I've learned a little bit more about the process, that was totally ignorant of me. I am very lucky that they are doing 97% of the work for me. I know now that I could hop on blue nile and grab a stone with much better stats only to have it arrive to my door with much less light performance. Of course I am only speaking on pears here.
Thank you for your insight and your opinion on the stone.![]()

The ASET looks okay. Lots of green but a decent amount of red and very little blue. What did Jon say about the stone when you talked to him.
Gypsy said:It isn't an inclusion of great 'magnitude', really. You are still gonna have to hunt for it, and if you ever see it with a 10x loupe you will be like... oh, that little thing?
It's a birthmark. Really, that's all it is.
You'll know it's there, and every time you drop your ring off for polishing, repair, sizing-- whatever, you will have the piece of mind of being able to pick up a loupe and seeing that little mark and knowing it's your stone you are looking at.
