Your post had me smiling because it’s so true
So I have to ask- what shape was your original stone?
My diamond is an asscher. So it's hilarious to think that a random jeweler would have an asscher CZ or diamond laying around, that was the same size and exact shape as mine (not gonna happen) with the same faceting so that I wouldn't immediately know the diamond was switched. And that they managed to do this in the 30 minutes (max) they would have had to switch the diamonds out.
I still have it. I thought I'd lost it (long story, there is a thread somewhere on here-- under my Gypsy name-- that has the story), and the insurance paid out. So I used that money to buy the K. And then, I found the asscher ring. And had to pay the insurance money back. So I had to either sell the asscher or the K. And I opted to keep my original diamond-- because I didn't even realize how much it meant to me until I lost it. Having it back was more important to me than keeping the (much larger) beautiful K (transitional) I had bought. And now the K is happily living in Australia with it's new owner .
