Issue with H-color stone

Your post had me smiling because it’s so true :geek2:

So I have to ask- what shape was your original stone?

My diamond is an asscher. So it's hilarious to think that a random jeweler would have an asscher CZ or diamond laying around, that was the same size and exact shape as mine (not gonna happen) with the same faceting so that I wouldn't immediately know the diamond was switched. And that they managed to do this in the 30 minutes (max) they would have had to switch the diamonds out.

I still have it. I thought I'd lost it (long story, there is a thread somewhere on here-- under my Gypsy name-- that has the story), and the insurance paid out. So I used that money to buy the K. And then, I found the asscher ring. And had to pay the insurance money back. So I had to either sell the asscher or the K. And I opted to keep my original diamond-- because I didn't even realize how much it meant to me until I lost it. Having it back was more important to me than keeping the (much larger) beautiful K (transitional) I had bought. And now the K is happily living in Australia with it's new owner .

Or as I have been saying for years,
Color grade is a color grade, not what your eyes/mind find beautiful.
Some of my all time favorites are nmo even out to s-t in high performance cuts.
In some lighting they are light buttery and in others they are eye frying white and blazing fire in others.
That you can get much larger diamonds for the same money is a huge plus.
Absolutely this. I grew up admiring and wanting my grandmother’s engagement ring. I loved how the diamond color reminded me of an old antique mirror; I found it so perfect.

Fast forward 25 years to it being on my finger and the warmth in it, estimated K while still in setting (I would bet it could even be an L or M), drove me crazy. I have to admit- I judged the diamond for its lower color.

It’s only now, three years later, that I’ve started to appreciate lower colors for their own attributes that higher colors don’t have. I’ve even purposefully sought out a lower color to wear as an alternative engagement ring:twirl:

Glad to hear you are returning it since you see yellow in it. Have fun looking for your new diamond. :wavey:

I agree to send it back. You need to love the diamond. Are you wedded to a modern round? Perhaps trying to replace your beloved stone will cast a shadow on any stone as it is simply not the same? Would you consider an antique (or modern cut antique like August Vintage round or Vintor Canera antique round)? That would give you a totally different look, so the comparison is less direct. If modern rounds are your love, then I'd second looking at a super-ideal. It will bump the performance and that also should help it compare to your lost diamond.
