Hello all,

I purchased a setting for my fiance's engagement ring from Jared, and now have $600 in "points" which I would need to use before Christmas if I want to redeem them. We really like this wedding band:

I think that it is overpriced at its retail price, but may be a fair shake when you subtract $500 from the total cost. Including tax, extended service plan, and the ring, the grand total is about ~$1,537.00. We do really like this band, but I am wondering if it is "worth" using these points for this purchase. Should I consider not using the points at all?

Well, it looks like the stones are well cut which is important. That picture looks a little odd, though. It almost looks like the center stone is a little higher than the others. Have you seen it in person? As long as all 5 stones are exactly the same size and straight in a row, then it would probably be fine as long as the edge of the stones don't hit against her e-ring prongs. You do need to try it on to see if this is a problem. The stones look like they are set low, which is good. I think it would be a decent deal with the $600 off. I'd want to look at the stones of the particular ring you'd be getting to check for inclusions since it says VS2 to SI1. Once you know where the inclusions are, you can be aware if any are eye visible.

We did try it on in the store and it looks great. I'll make sure and ask to see the stones under a scope to see any inclusions. The salesperson didn't mention anything about the diamonds in the band not touching the prongs on the e-ring setting.

Thanks for the reply!

Jeff

No one ever thinks about that until they see the wedding band diamond scratching the e-ring prongs! As long as she tries it on and you see that the diamonds in the band do not come into contact with the e-ring, you will be fine!

Really? Five 10 pointers of H/I VS2-SI1 for $1500 is a deal?

Hmm, you can probably get a similar band for less than the 1,500 discount price if would be at Jared. Maybe you can use the points for other purchases.... pandora items? a watch? a christmas gift that your SO might want... ?
