Hello Forum... This is one of the most informative and best forums on the web when it comes to diamonds. I am in the market for an engagement ring and I think that I have found a needle in the haystack when it comes to a Tiffany ring. I found a seller here in the Twin Cities that needs to unload his e-ring after breaking off the engagement a year ago. He has worked with a local jeweler to unload the piece and I took a look at it today. Weigh in on if you think it is a good deal for a Tiffany Ring and Diamond... I have to make a buying decision tomorrow... I have been sitting on it for almost two weeks and need a professional/unbiased opinion.

Ring: Tiffany Lucida Platinum Setting
Diamond: 1.68carats
Color: G
Clarity: VVS1
Cut: Lucida Rectangular

Size: 6.44 x 6.43 x 4.4mm

Original Price Paid on 2/1/2007: 32,447
Price Offered and Accepted: $14,400

Is this a good deal? I really want to get a Tiffany ring for my girl and I also want to get a good deal... I am not sure if I am getting caught up in the rush of getting a good deal or if I am making the right decision. any help would be appreciated.

With the information provided.....yeah!. But the question is: what is in the fine print? Sounds to good to be true. I would have it idependently apraised prior to purchasing. They have waited to weeks. If they really want to sell, they can wait a few more days. But if everything is verified as true,

then it does sound like "the needle in the haystack".

Sounds like a great deal. Just make sure it is authentic.

Sounds like an awesome deal. However, I agree with Sodenc in re: to verifying with an independent appraiser prior to finalizing the purchase. Make sure to get this contingency agreement in writing and signed by the seller.

HI:

Does the seller have the original documents (receipt and certificate of authenticity?) Second the independent appraiser--I beleive the Lucida stones are inscribed and it should match what the lab document/cert from Tiffany indicates. Let us know how it turns out!

cheers--Sharon

I went and checked out the ring today and the jeweler had all of the original paperwork from Tiffany and the original sales receipt from the Tiffany store in Minneapolis where it was purchased. I told the jeweler that I would buy it with as long as she would do two things. #1 - Take it to the Tiffany store and have them send it to Tiffany and Co in NYC to verify its authenticity and #2 Try to have Tiffany change the documents to reflect my name, so I could utilize the lifetime warranty. Thanks for all of your help on this one. I am pretty excited and hope that everything checks out.

This sounds like a good plan. The price is very good for a diamond of those specs, and even better if it is authentic.

sounds like a good plan, if it all works out to your liking, I can''t wait to see pics
