I want to get an opinion on the following diamond I found on jewelers row in Philly (AGA-Cert):
Round
.90ct
G
VS2
Exc/Exc
Cut: 1B, ranging from 1A to 2A
6.05 x 6.01 x 3.87
Depth: 64.2%
Table: 58.5%
Slight blue fluorescence
closed cutlet
Price: $4,000
Is this a good diamond? Is this a good price?
Three concerns:
1. The depth at 64% is higher than what I thought of as an acceptable range. Is the 1B rating enough to ease my concern here? Or, is my concern even valid in the first place?
2. When I looked at it under the microscope, it seemed like the cutlet was just off center. I didn''t mention this to the jeweler, and I think it may been because I was not looking directly down on the diamond (I''ll have to go back and re-verify). Does the fact that it got an excellent symmetry rating rule out something like this?
3. I went into many stores in jeweler''s row, and when I first walked in this one, it seemed sort of cheesy and more commecialized than the others. The woman I dealt with was nice, but it seemed like she got sent to training for two weeks and was sent to the floor, rather than someone who "really knows diamonds" which is what seemed to be the case at most of the other stores. Should this be a problem?
Thanks very much to any that can provide input.
