Hi,

I am looking to buy a stone and 1308 novo replica from excel diamonds and would like some unbiased (not selling to me) expert advice. I know everyone will have their own bias' and preferences.

The stone is http://www.exceldiamonds.com/Diamon...nd-1-22-Carat-I-Color-SI1-Clarity-195003.html and is on hold for me for 48hours.

The setting is http://www.exceldiamonds.com/-Engag...t-Diamonds-ENS1308NovoB-1564.html?vid=3037816.

Any help and opinions positive or negative will be most welcome before I make a large investment (or not!).

Thanks,
Nrg

I bought an H&A round from them a few years back. It's a great little rock, but one thing... it has SB fluor (which I love), but I was told by Barry and Judah that it was not oily / milky in sunlight, but it actually is.

Anyway... I don't like that cushion, and in terms of craftsmanship that ring is... a little lacking.

We can help you find better options! What is your budget?

Hi Ecf,

Thanks for the reply. I have a budget of ~£5,000 or whatever that converts in to USD, bad time for the exchange rate!

I love the Novo setting, and would be keen for a 1.2-1.5ct cushion cut stone, depending on what is available. I would need a UK L or 5.5 US. The most important thing for me is carat, but not to the extent whereI would be compromising on visible quality. As long as there are no issues visible with the naked eye, I'd be happy.

I am happy to learn from all here, and have tried with the 4c's, but get clouded by too much info. I would also be happy to answer any other questions to help you understand exactly what I think I want!

Thanks again,
Nrg

Yes, there are other Novo replicas. This is the best one that I have seen, although this picture is not as flattering as it could be. I have the Vatche tiffany solitaire replica, and it is very well done!

If you look at the second row, first ring, there is another nice one. They carry Vatche, so it might actually be that one.

Good Old Gold carries outstanding diamonds as well. If they don't have exactly what you want, they will pick up some for you to look at. You need an almost square diamond for a Novo replica. Don't look at rectangular ones.

Something like this:

the size is pretty good on that one.

Wasn't there some talk at one point about Vatche being the behind-the-scenes outfit for Tiffany? I have a Vatche 3-stone, and compared to a real Tiffany in the store, the quality is nearly identical. Just thinking out loud... :naughty:

Thanks for the info guys. Woul anyone be able to recommend what makes the ideal stone for a novo?

Thanks

A Tiffany Novo cushion is a square cushion brilliant, but I don't think you will find a 1.2-1.5 ct one in your price range; the modified cushion brilliant is far more plentiful and cheaper per ct.
