Hi everyone! New poster here- been searching and reading for a while. I am, like so many here, trying to decide on a diamond to buy. Mine is for an engagement ring (for the most incredible woman in the world, no less, lucky me!!!). We have similar tastes, and I have settled on buying a square-cut emerald / asscher, set in a platinum band with some accent diamonds. I have read most of the previous posts dealing with these cuts, so without re-hashing the basics (which I''m sure many of you are tired of doing!), what do you think of the diamond below? I understand that it does not have the greatest depth, and has a fairly large table. Most of your posts idicate that this is a matter of individual taste, but that these numbers can influence fire, etc. I will certainly preview any stone I am considering, and don''t have photos (sorry!). Any opinions? Thanks in advance for any help- this is definitely the best website/forum community I have found for discussing diamonds. Have a great day!

It appears that you are looking specifically for an F IF? Please remember that the colour and clarity doesn''t have much effect on the sparkle of the stone. You have decent depth in the stone but the table appears a bit too large. This can be "forgiven" if the stone has good crown height. Without a high crown, the EC will look flat and lifeless. Without a picture, that is all I can tell about the stone. A picture will show more: step pattern (very important) and possibly how the stone will perform.

It might be a pretty stone but its not one id mess around with.
Id much prefere a smaller table.
If your interested we need the crown height and pictures to tell you anything more about it.

Hi guys, thanks for the help. Yes, I would like to stay in the 1 carat, D-F color range, and an IF if possible, with at least very good ratings on the other appropriate specs. I''m sorry I don''t have any photos; this is a Blue Nile stone, and as you know, they don''t photograph (why, I''ll never know- it seems other online jewelers do it all the time). I am pretty firmly decided on one of their settings, so either I''ll have to buy one of their stones and preview it, or get them to purchase a stone I like from someone else and set it for me. I understand that choosing one of their settings is limiting me, but after viewing many, many settings, this is the right one. I have requested crown height from their customer service (We''ll see...), attached is the facet plot from the GIA report. I''ve also seen this cut with fewer facets- is fewer/more better or worse? I''ll write back if I get any more info. If you guys have any other options/advice, please let me know; this is both exciting and exasperating. Thanks!

one of the PS vendors could get it in for pictures.
If you want IF it may be the best one available, the rest in the list look pretty sad by the numbers.
But you need pictures too make sure it isnt a dog.

I shopped from Blue Nile before I also like the JamesAllen. They do have pictures of the diamonds and they are comparable in pricing.

The good thing is they both have price back guarantee so you can always return it if it''s not what you wanted.

Good Luck!
