Have you done business with this company? Just wondering why the red face? Are you just trying to find out if they are
reputable?
I recently bought a .80 ctw 5 stone F/G SI1 plat ring at a local family owned jewelry store. It was about the same price
as their plat 1 ctw 5 stone G VS ring. So their prices dont seem totally out of line but definitly on the low end.
I was looking at their return policy and it said 30 days except for specialty items.
That said, this doesn’t mean a whole lot, there’s a lot of first rate jewelers out there that I’ve never heard of and it doesn’t answer your question. It’s worthwhile to do some research into the company.
1) Read the content of the site carefully. Pay special attention to the ‘terms and conditions’ type pages and the rules regarding refunds if you’re unhappy. Be sure you understand the descriptions, especially if they're vague about things like grading on stones, treatments and the like. If you're not sure, ask questions by email so you've got the answers in writing.
2) Look them up on the BBB site for their town.
3) Look them up on ripoffreport.com, jvclegal.com and similar sites where people go to complain. Not all complaints are valid of course, but if you find some, all are worth reading and a pattern is definitely worth your attention.
4) Look up the website on whois.com or one of the similar sites and find out who owns it and how long they’ve been online. Google THEIR name and see if anything interesting turns up. Read the site ‘about us’ type pages and see if this all matches what you’ve found. Do be careful before you make conclusions if you find something bad by the way, a lot of people have similar names so if you find a crook, make sure it’s the right person before you hold it against them.
5) Start a new thread here with the name of the company in the title instead of a more generic question like this one. The pricescope community is large and they do get around. There may be others here who have done business with them before but most people pick and choose which threads they read.
6) Call them up and talk to them on the phone to get a feel for whether they’re the sort of folks you want to be doing business with.
7) If you're still worried, seriously consider getting an inspection by an independent expert while you're still within the return period.
policies look ok, the warranty is a little short at 90 days
Don''t specify treatments on gemstones so likely heated, that is something I would ask about if the ring had them.
I would compare the total weight of the ring in the same size to others to see where they fall.
I would ask about the cut quality of the melee.
