Hi friends, do you have any comment on this ring?

I want to know how many proportion of the stone will be embedded into the ring? it seems this ring may cover a big part of stone. Thanks!

Really hard to tell...that basket doesnt look very deep so I'm thinking more of the stone would be exposed. Most people
like for the table of their stone to sit just a little higher than the halo. They do not want it sitting way higher than the halo.

How thick is the shank? What material, and is it handmade?

Looks super flimsy to me, and not particularly well-made - metal surrounding pave down shank looks uneven even in the non-macro photo.

tyty, it means it will sit higher than normal rings....i may like it, as i think stone should be exposed as much as it can be, though my stone is not good enough with spot defect seen by side view.

Yssie, it is made of 18K platinum.

is it really weak that the stone may be detached in one day?

I agree, it doesnt look like its high quality. If you let us know your budget we may be able to find you something similar.

There is no 18K Pt, at least not in the US. For a Pt stamp, it must have at least 90% Pt in weight, 18K is 75% purity and also Pt is usually stamped as for example like 950 Pt for 95% pure Pt alloy.

I would be concerned that this ring would not hold up to daily wear. If you give us an idea of your budget range people here may be able to find you something similar for the money that is sturdier.

the bezel set diamond at the bottom looks out of proportion to me. if you are looking for a setting that will hide the side view we can certainly find you one!

Maybe "platinum plated"?

Though, any store that sells "platinum plated" anything is one to run from, so the end advice to nimdomin is the same.

nim - have you seen the setting in-person? You might consider purchasing one and having it sent out to inspect before having your stone set - be sure to get the return policy in writing if you go this route. Or will the vendor provide additional pictures of it, of a completed piece, etc.?

Good advice Yssie regarding the return policy.

I absolutely agree with Amy. I think that eventually the high sitting stone will come detached. I think you should allow some very knowledgable people here to help you find a sturdier setting within your budget.

I also think that it is very uneven in the shank.

Is this for you or are you buying for someone else? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so the only one who has to like it is the one wearing it. It really doesn't matter what we thing. I will caution you that you usually get what you pay for with pave and I'd want to make sure it's done very well so it will hold up to daily wear and tear. It's too hard to judge the quality from the picture you posted. Please read the earlier posts b/c others have given some very good advice, especially regarding a return policy if you do indeed get it.

Since you keep asking I will tell you...I dont like th quality of the ring and I dont really like the way the ring looks. Issues for me are
down where the surprise diamond is. The quality looks less than "lord of the gem rings" on ebay and his settings run a lot cheaper
than what you are paying (although I think you would have to pay for an upgrade to get 18k gold). What size is your center
stone? A lot of people on the colored stone forum use lord of the gem rings for their colored stones but they dont usually wear
them every day. In other words they dont think lord of the gem rings are good enough for wedding ring settings but lord of the
gem ring quality looks better than the one you have posted.

I will give you a link to his rings on ebay.

Sometimes when you are on a tight budget its better to get a simpler setting. I'm going to link you to some at id jewelry.

halo..its a little more than you are spending

Personally, I think you would probably be better off with a setting from ID Jewelry because I know lots of picky PSers have gotten
settings/rings from them and have been happy with them.
