I have had issues with a purchase from FC before. A SI2 stone was declared to me as being eye clean but it was actually very far from it.

I love this ring - It is a VS2/SI1 so I would presume eye clean, but I can see some black marks in the closer up photos and i''m a bit worried about it.

Any other advice also appreciated.

Thanks!

It''s always hard to tell from pictures, but as I can see the marks you''re describing ... I''d say odds of the stone being eye-clean are fairly slim.

If you''re interested in an antique ring, I''m sure a lot of members can make recommendations ... two of my favorite vendors would be Jewels by Erica Grace and M. Khordipour.

Thanks so much for the quick reply and the links.

I do love the setting of the FC ring. I am also considering buying the setting only and sourcing a diamond to have set in it.

I am in Australia but feel that I would make a saving buy purchasing a diamond in the US and having it sent here, even with the 12% import tax.

I am open to recommendations of good online vendors as well... And I am still open to opinions on the FC I posted as well.

Thanks again.

I''m no expert but I also see the marks you speak of.

I am confused though; my understanding was that VS2 virtually ensured an eye clean stone. Am I mistaken or is it likely that the seller is offering an overly optimistic clarity rating?

The stone is EGL certified, I presume that is reputable??

A quick search on here indicates that perhaps EGL is not as reputable as some of the others.

eye clean is often eye of the beholder....i have eagle eyes and have looked at vvs stones that i thought were given higher grades than they deserved.

Fay cullen does not have a great PS reputation, for their customer service or the quality of their settings. Try a search as see what comes up.

Beverly K is a brand that has a wonderful PS reputation, and they have a lot of edwardian style mounts. This one here seems to be similar to the one you like, but there are many others if you search the link more: http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/78PP1/28/ Pearlman''s is a vendor who also has a great PS reputation and will offer discounts for PSers.

I would suggest sourcing your own diamond and then sending it to Pearlman''s to set into a Beverly K ring. It will cost a littlem more on the surface than will the FC ring, but the quaity and customer service will be much better.

EGL USA has a decent reputation, but they are more lax in color grading thatn GIA and AGS, so you need to adjust when you try to compare prices from the different labs. EGL is rarely the "deal" it appears to be.

Hi nodiamond,

Did you post about that here a while back? Just curious....I agree with Circe, although you can't tell accurately from a photo I doubt this stone is eyeclean so if you have had difficulty before I personally wouldn't go that route again.

Yes, that was me. I had to create a new login because I couldn''t remember my old one.

I LOVE the FC settings.. I just don''t like dealing with her/them.

I''m thinking of getting a jeweller in Australia to recreate a setting from one of her pictures.. And I still need to get my hands on a decent diamond.

Ok thanks, I remember!

If you had problems with them in the past, why would you consider purchasing again from FC again?

As stated, FC doesn''t have the greatest of reputation. . .personally, I wouldn''t purchase from them.
