the seller is asking 3300 for the loose stone

Hard to say - it''s important to know which EGL Lab. certed it.

...also, VS2 would NOT be loupe clean!...at least not with a 10x loupe!

I'd stay away from that one. It's not EGL US, so the color grade could be off. It's too deep for me. I think you could do much better. The ebay listing is all messed up too. Title says 1.71. The report also says symmetry is fair to good with good polish--you can do much better. I'd pass.

Ovals can be different based on their numbers, but that's too deep. The video doesn't indicate much. Have you used the PS search function? I've seen 1.01 G VS2 stones for around 3,500. I'd call up some of the PS vendors and see what they have in the way of ovals. I have a G color oval and it is very icy. If you go down a bit in color you could find a better cut for the price.

I also think you can do better.

Yep. You can do MUCH better.

Well unfortunately I bought this diamond sight unseen before I found this forum.(please dont flame me to bad!) I can return it and will thanks to you guys, but do you recommend I just send it back without looking at it? or should I post a pic of it? Should I bother having the local jeweler look at it?

thanks

Don''t worry, no one will flame you! It is up to you, but from the info given, you could definitely do better. Maybe the cleanest way would be to just return it, then if you would like, we can help you find another diamond.

We are here to help! You have to decide what to do, but, if it were me, I''d return it and start fresh. Especially since it is a EGL Euro stone. Their grading can be off by quite a lot.

We can find you a much better stone from pricescope vendors. They have a really good reputation here, and have great consumer policies, prices and discounts. many PSers swear by whieflash and goodoldgold. They have a lot of information about their stones on their sites, and usually have them in stock so they can look at them and give you advice immediately. Try to stick with an AGS or GIA, and AGS grades a lot stricter than GIA. I say return it and sart from scratch. You''ll be much happier with the end result.
