I recently bought a two row diamond ring from a pawn shop. It sparkles like crazy when the diamonds are face up....but it also shoots out rainbows ("sparkles") from the undersides of the diamonds. I''ve never noticed this before on other stones. It this normal, or is this a sign of a shallow cut stone? I attached a photo. It''s not that good as I haven''t figured out the picture thing

Thanks for the help!

Capturing a good image of a piece of jewelry can be quite challenging... Do you have a macro setting on your camera? Sometimes this looks like a flower... I''ve discovered that the image quality seems to improve the farther back I am from the jewelry I''m trying to photograph (in which case I don''t use the macro setting) with a little natural daylight and either a tripod or a stack of books to steady the camera.

Ditto Todd. You could get an appraiser to check your ring out too if you are interested in learning more about it, congratulations on your purchase!
