Hi, I am in search for the engagment ring..
Yesterday was my first time going around and looking for a diamond. I''ve visited few places and
what im about to list is what i have seen in person and it did give me a great brilliance and esp fire from the stone and really like it.

Please tell me if it is good for the money or not.

GIA CERT. on DEC 2005
ROUND BRILLIANT
MEASUREMENT: 6.54 - 6.59 X 3.85MM
WEIGHT: 1.01CT

PROPORTION
DEPTH: 58.6%
TABLE: 57%
GIRDLE: VERY THIN TO SLIGHTLY THICK, FACETED
CULET: NONE
FINISH
POLISH: VERY GOOD
SYMMETRY: GOOD
CLARITY GRADE: VS2
COLOR GRADE: F
FLUORESCENCE: NONE

COMMENTS: SURFACE GRAINING IS NOT SHOWN

ALSO, I ASKED IF IT WAS ENHANCED OR NOT.. AND THE SELLER SAID NO..

After talking, he said the best he could do is $8,450.00
Also, the reason why he said it is rare and gives off so much brilliance and fire compared to other diamonds he had is because it is H&A.

Thank you and any comments replies will be greatly appreciated!

Firstly, this diamond is too shallow, also we really need the crown and pavillion angles to further judge the cut, but the shallow depth puts me off personally. Also you can't be sure this is a true Hearts and Arrows cut. I will post info in a moment which will show you that diamonds have to meet many standards to be a true Hearts and Arrows cut. The price seems steep to me too. Also most H&A cut diamonds will automatically have excellent to Ideal symmetry and usually polish to qualify. Here you go, this should tell you all you need to know about H&A.

ETA - here is a quick example of a true H&A diamond for you to see.

SSipal : ) Welcome to PriceScope:

A little more information might help us...
-crown angle?
-pavillion angle?

Are you sure you want such high color as 'F'? Near colorless can extend all the way to 'H' or 'I'... J-K stones can be gorgeous too - have you seen these in person and decided 'F' is your comfort level?

Also, VS2 may be overkill for clarity (some might not agree). You can find some beautifully eye-clean SI1 or SI2 stones. This could also save you some money if you'd like.

Good luck!

Thank you guys for your quick and helpful information.
I guess I will have to go back and look at the diamond again.. after reading article about Heart and Arrow.. i didn''t know
there was going to be a lot of info on it..
Plus. tyr to get the size.. info too..
the only thing that stopped and got me thinking yesterday was the shallow part also. cuz it did not match with and ideal one.

Thank you for all the helpful info again!

i didn''t know it was possible for a hearts and arrows stone to have "good" symmetry.

I found the info..

crown angle 32

crown height 13

pavilion angle 40.2

pavilion depth 42.5

start length 55

lower half 80
cut grade good

sorry, it is too shallow. and expensive.

ssipal,

a lot of people on here will argue that CUT is the most important C of them all...

that said, try to stick to excellent or ideal cuts... good cut might not get you what you're looking for. Like I said before, you can go down in color (from F to H-I etc...) and in clarity (from VS2 to SI1 or SI2)... and keep it within the same budget.

remember that a 'good' cut diamond might not perform as well as an ideal cut, even if it is F,VS2...

just my .02

It isn''t.

And, it''s overpriced.

I''d try to find another vendor. One who will give you correct information.
