I looked at an EGL 1.75 E SI1 (really F SI2 but eye clean). Depth 59, Table 58, Crown height 12%, Pavilion depth 45%, Thin to S.Thick. EX/EX, no culut, no fluor.
Excellent Ideal Cut, "8Hearts and Arrows" 7.96-7.89x4.67.

I looked through the IS, and could see the hearts, and they looked pretty good. BUT! No matter how I moved the stone on the little stand, I couldn't get the arrows to line up.

The cut seems poor, but how could it be H&A??? The price is $14750 - Is it too high?

Please, need help soon!

Thanks!

Do you know what EGL lab it was? (ie USA, Europe, Israel, etc.)

Well said. As you have doubts which seem to be not unfounded, I would suggest looking for some other diamonds. If a true hearts and arrows diamond is what you want, have you looked at some of these stones from Good old Gold or A Cut Above from Whiteflash?

One vendor's H&A grading differs from another vendor's. There isn't a standard across the board for the H&A "grading". That said, if you are all right with a stone that shows a H&A like pattern, this might be the stone for you. If you want a perfect H&A pattern, then I'd keep looking. GOG, JamesAllen and WF carry many diamonds with H&A (branded and unbranded) stones and near perfect H&A patterns.

Here is an explanation of H&A: https://www.pricescope.com/hearts_indx.asp
Pictures of how to "grade" H&A patterns: https://www.pricescope.com/hearts_phony.asp

There are many who would be satisfied with a close to H&A pattern, meaning the 2nd stone from the right for both the hearts and arrows picture.
Of course, there are also those who want a perfect pattern, the right most stone.

Thank you all for your ansswers! I was thinking pretty much the same... I don''t know which EGL it was but it doesn''t really matter to me with this stone. EGL or not, it has a table too large to my taste. Great spread for a 1.75 though... I''ll keep looking.

I think that might be best by the sound of it, you will find the right one!
