I have to request an image, but not sure if its worth bothering due to the depth and girdle.
Pluses are it has the proportions I'm after, good sym/polish and its pretty cheap.

James Allen EC

It would be set in this.

You can''t tell much by the numbers with fancy shapes, and EC''s are no exception, so see if James Allen can provide you with a picture and an Idealscope image if possible - but the photo is the important thing. Then once you have it, post it here and we can help you further. Sometimes EC''s that don''t fall into certain suggested ranges for proportions can be gorgeous diamonds, so if this fits your criteria in some aspects, see if you can get a picture, that way you will know if it is worth pursuing or not.

Hi, Digable -- and welcome to PS!

Although I basically agree with Lorelei -- and seeing the stone should be the ultimate decider for you -- I would pass on this stone. And it is exactly for the reasons you mention: I would not go deeper than 70%, preferably 68% or less. And a girdle at most ''thick''.

I believe you are losing too much spread by having a lot of the carat weight ''lost'' in the depth and the girdle. (The other parameters look great!).

I think you can do better.

Below is one example, although the ratio might not work for you. It has a better cut ("Ideal" -- with great D & T #s), a tad lighter, but faces up larger than the one you posted. It's also a bit less expensive! (Have you considered a G or H color also?)

and...

Ive been assured its eye clean from the top, apparently that mark is only visible from the sides or bottom

I like the look of it, have you checked it is eyeclean from the top at very close scrutiny to be sure?

I have not. but the sales manager at JA assured me it is eye-clean. I guess I''d just return it if that wasnt the case.
Is that a good idealscope image? I guess I dont *really* know what Im looking for here, I just thought pink and white was bad, and theres a lot of both in that image. Perhaps thats more standard with ECs?

Idealscope is more useful in rounds than with fancy shapes, also the image isn''t that clear with the colours, but it looks ok as far as I can tell, from the photo it appears to be a very attractive diamond in my opinion.
