Is this design theoretically possible?

I've had this project in mind for a while and am just starting to get all the pieces together, but I'm wondering if it seems like it would be possible for a jeweller to make it. I've seen the custom work done by my jeweller and it's lovely, but I don't want to embarrass myself by going in with my design and having them tell me it's impossible to make. It seems simple to me, but I thought I'd check with those of you who have experience in custom work before I visit my jeweller.

So tell me, does this seem like a ring that could be made? It's pretty straightforward, right? Right??? :errrr:

Basically, I'm looking to have an oval diamond bezel-set in white gold with light milgrain accented by 3D flowers set with tiny diamonds (used HPHT blue diamonds in example, but still figuring out what I want!).

Don't laugh at my awesome Photoshop skillz! I've tried to do everything to scale -- have used flowers from a ring I found on eBay as inspiration, but I'd like to have those more along the lines of hydrangea petals since they're what I carried at my wedding.

I'd like to have the neatness of alene's milgrained bezel, though I'd like to make a small change to the bezel "basket" and I'd like the profile of alene's ring (because I want to wear this ring flush with my wedding band), but would like the struts made concave to "hug" the flowers:

Soooo, will my jeweller laugh at me?

Will your jeweler laugh at you? If you show him your photoshop picture, yes.

hahaha kidding! I think it sounds like a pretty idea. Never know if it will work until you ask!

Hee! I KNOW! And that's the GOOD version!

I was just browsing thru Greenlake and they have something similar to your idea in their gallery. The oval has a n/s semi bezel but there is a flower on each side w/a stone inside.

Ooh! I *love* the flowers on the Patrick Irla design -- hydrangeas!!! I'd like something a bit more three dimensional, but those are definitely very close to what I'd like!

Off to have a look! :))

ETA: Wow! They have a load of floral designs! I've never looked through their portfolio before -- their work is stunning! I'd eat my shoe for this one: http://www.greenlakejewelry.com/gallery/gallery_detail.aspx?ImgID=55674

I think it is definitely possible and completely gorgeous!!!

Yay! Thanks! Fingers crossed it'll become a reality! :))

I'm just not sure about the accent stones -- I'd like to do light blue sapphires (as we were married in September and to match my husband's eyes), but sapphires don't have a whole lot of sparkle, do they? And I definitely want sparkle! :D

I think it's definitely possible. Of course my custom experience totals zero! =) Have you seen the kunzite on MRs facebook page? It's my new dream RHR.

Who's MR? I'll go look immediately!

Mike Robinson RDG. :)) It's under his photos, and his work is TDF!!

Pretty amazing huh?! It's not quite what your going for, but it could be equally amazing with a milgrain bezel instead of halo. :naughty: I have pics tucked away for some future project, like maybe when my son graduates from college in 10-12 yrs. :(sad

I Hope it's possible! I think it's a very cool design!

hey elliemay - hows the hunt going? I love your idea - I think it is very fresh and unique and would be beautiful with soft lilac/blue or pink sapphires in the side blooms. Did you find anything at greenlake?

Hey, E! :)) I must admit I played around a bit more with Photoshop today, using one of the Patrick Irla rings as a template! I don't want an exact copy of one of Irla's designs, but his flowers are much closer to what I'd pictured in my mind, so I thought I'd try out a better looking bezel (than the one in my original draft!) and try zircons (for the blue of DH's eyes), emeralds (our birthstones), and diamonds (just because!) as the accent stones. Not sure about any of those, but I do kind of like the yellow gold flowers with the white gold band, which is a surprise to me because I don't really like yellow gold and harbour an active dislike of all things two-tone!

I bought a cheap oval on eBay, which I'm hoping will work as the centre stone. I'm waiting for it to arrive before I buy the sidestones or go see my jeweller -- the stone is going to be really small and I just can't visualise it yet! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160746198546

Clearly that diamond is a bit of a PS no-no , but I'm not looking to create a piece of *fine* jewellery, if you know what I mean -- I just want a fun token to celebrate our anniversary. I'm trying to avoid importing anything, which means I need to have the custom work done here in the UK. I'll have to import the diamond, though, because diamonds are so much more expensive here -- I figured that litle oval was cheap enough and small enough to take the risk. We'll see!

Honestly, everything on Greenlake is gorgeous, but they're just too expensive for this project. If I were doing an e-ring upgrade, I'd definitely consider them, but I really can't justify the cost of their settings since I only did my e-ring upgrade 3 months ago. My husband would kill me, which would be a shame because I'd be dead before our anniversary and would never get to wear my anniversary ring!

Good one - dead before your anniversary -   !!!

I like the soft blue-eye colour the best of your options. You despise all things two tone?? I love that look!!! I think your design is amazing! I hope you can find someone in the UK to do the work for you - is there an etsy search for UK vendors???
