Is this crushed ice pear diamond?

I guess you could call it that. I would classify it as just not well cut myself.

I don't personally like the cut on it and think it's not pleasing to me, but that's me.

Do you have a budget and specs you are looking at for a pear? People can possibly help you as well.

Such a diamond may be totally happy as a pendant stone, but on someone's finger, it may seem not as lively as others you might be able to select of similar size, but better cut. Diamonds worn where the person wearing them cannot constantly stare at them and analyze them can be successful in fair cut quality especially in earrings, brooches and necklaces where most casual observers don't pick them apart for the details of cutting. Diamonds worn in bracelets and rings are especially vulnerable to more discerning examination by their owners.

Oh I see. Thanks for the analysis! On IG, crushed ice cut is advertised as the cool new cut it seems for both diamond and moissanite. I didn't know what to think about it. I wanted to get a moissanite to quench my diamond thirst. Then I realized I'm only interested in a less than 1 carat well-cut diamond. I might as well get a diamond. The budget for diamond is not that drastically different than for moissanite regarding my criteria. A well-cut diamond is so defined and pretty, can't say no to that.

I'm looking for a mini upgrade because my fingers are small. I now have a half carat 6x4 pear cut. I'm looking to spend maybe just $1-2K more to get a 8x6 pear cut. The price of the diamond now is pretty good because of coronavirus.

Do you need to upgrade with Blue Nile?

What are your thresholds for color and clarity?

Just trying to figure out your total budget.

Crushed ice has been around a bit. You see it in radiants and cushions. It's a preference too. But they are aren't created equal.

Here is a pear in a ring already, that is nicely cut to my eye.

I really don't have strict criteria for color and clarity. For example, mine now is color E and clarity SI2. The inclusions were all at the tip so I can not see unless I use the loupe. I do prefer color higher or equal H. But I know for a small small like this, it might not be that important, at least I'm not color sensitive.

I bought mine from Blue Nile. I have a ring from James Allen, not very happy with the craftmanship of the ring, and it was remade twice and still not to my liking, probably bad luck. I do like Blue Nile, especially the diamond price. I like a pear chubby like ratio 1.48 ~1.52, the width should be at least 5mm, ideally 6mm. Still in the early stage of searching. Look forward to here your professional thoughts:)

This first pear is within my budget (not exactly the wanted width but I thought it looks pretty) :https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...NDS&track=viewDiamondDetails&catalogView=true

This one is dream, a bit out of my budget https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...NDS&track=viewDiamondDetails&catalogView=true

crushed ice isn't a new cut. i know some people who prefer it because of the glittery effect, and others who don't like it because they want more of the rainbow fire. either pov is valid imho but whoever is promoting this as the cool new cut is wrong and/or misleading people.

I would definitely contact diamonds by lauren if you like pears. They have many great options

I like the crushed ice disco ball effect in some radiants, in pears depending upon the pear it's usually a sign of a bad cut.

Diamonds By Lauren might also take your old stone as a trade in as well, can't hurt to ask.

Can you help me understand your preference for diamonds by lauren? The reason why I like Blue Nile is that the inventory is enormous. All it takes is for me to filter and find what I want at the best price possible.

Because pears are tricky to buy, and crushed ice pears can be either great or really bad (IMHO). DBL has a great selection of crushed ice style stones and I trust david to help people find what they want. I dont dislike BN, its just that pears are particularly hard to shop for.

This gets my attention - D / VS, bright & brilliant according to the video, & not small for its weight either - www

There are a few interesting options among D-G pears, over .45 cts with tables less than 57% [no magic number, just one measure of 'small'] < $1K today.

Sharing this link. However, I can see bowtie effect. Otherwise, the color is super white and awesome.

This is what 'crushed ice' means to me: www - a shallow pavilion & a much heavier crown, still bright throughout, even as it rolles in every direction.

@Atgcrichgirl The E / SI1 is an unusual cut with no bow tie. Else, deeper cut pears have less of the effect, but they tend to be smaller for their weight - eg. this www

This one is unique! Cool cut

I love the first one you found! Yeah, my budget is a bit tight. However, I'm in no hurry. I've noticed the diamond prices seem to be falling quite quickly in the past three weeks on Blue Nile. So I'm hopeful. I got my 0.4 carat for $367 last year

This could be worth a look:

I don't know if you like either though. Pears are hard, because everyone has so many preferences. I think getting the mm size you want with the budget may be a little hard.

I guess I got lucky.

It is beautifully cut.

I tend to look for long pears - around 1.7 L/W ratios, because they seem larger to me [& still more attractive even if the stones are very large, truth be told], but your choice is closer to norm.

Thank you! Yeah pear is quite a diverse cut now that I realize. I just really like it from the price standpoint compared to other cuts. It's still sparkler than step cut but cheaper than round cut. I have a soft spot for diamond even though it's overpriced, etc. It's not even about marriage, engagement. I just like nice well-cut gemstones. I'm glad that I can freely discuss here without judgement. Thank you for all the input.

I am often finding interesting cut models among smaller, fine diamonds - but there is nothing priced as yours was [noticed. www ]

I am not a fan of crush ice look in any cut. i Like the symmetry of a well cut stone that has various facet sizes that catch the light and sparkle differently. You get both big and small flashes.IMHO crushed ice is all sparkle and appears disorganize.
