Is this an outrageous price for some larger sidestones?

I''m looking to purchase a tiffany-replica channel set engagement ring. The true Tiffany setting (from Tiffany) comes with 10 round side stones (VS/F) totaling 0.89 carats. The vendor''s tiffany-replica comes with 10 round side stones (VS/G) totaling 0.35 carats. Since I''m going with a 2 carat center stone and I''d like it to be more in line with the channel-set ring I saw at Tiffany, I asked how much it would be to have larger side stones. They said they could create the ring using 10 round side stones (VS/G) totaling 0.80 ct for an additional $1,000. That seems like a steep premium. The platinum setting with 0.35 ct is $2550; with 0.80 ct, I''m looking at $3,550. Is it reasonable?

From taking a quick peek, I am sure I know which vendor you are considering. Their reputation for making a Tiffany replica gets high marks. Is it worth the additional premium for the higher diamond weight? Only you can answer that question. I don''t know that you can effectively price it out in terms of additional diamond weight. It is a well made replica and in their opinion, commands a certain price. If you are after a high quality, well made Tiffany replica that has the exact same specs as the original, then it is certainly worth the money. WF has made Tiffany replicas as well - they do very nice work and will work with you to get the ring as close to what you want as possible.

For me personally, if I wanted a Tiffany replica ring, I would go with the vendor you are considering because I like their version better. However, I would certainly price it around for your peace of mind. You might find it offered at a better price or you might like the version that another vendor offers.

Sometimes what we want can''t be quantified in terms of price. If it''s what you are dead set on and will make you over the moon happy, then you have to spend the money. Over a lifetime of wearing a ring, 1k isn''t alot of money. If you don''t think it will be your forever setting, you might want to reconsider.

Tiffanys is not a cheap place to go to buy stuff. I presume you already knew that. One off custom manufacturing us US labor is not the cheapest way to make things. I presume you also knew that. The difference is price in part has to do with the materials used but it is far from the only variable.
