was off on the carrot weight by almost double? (If my math is right.)
I wanted a ring for a 15th wedding anniversary gift. (To use as a bridal set when I wear white gold instead of my larger original yellow gold set.)
I fell in love with a ring on Ebay from a (supposedly) reputable seller. I tried and tried to find the ring I loved at an online store before bidding. I finally found the ring at Macys after I won the auction and recieved the ring. (But did not leave feedback yet.)
Some questions...
Is Macy''s bad about overstating the value or overcharging for jewelry?
Macy''s has the ring at originally $700 and on sale at $350. I bought it for $200 on Ebay. Is this a fair price? What would you guess the value to be at 14k white gold 1/3 ct diamonds? (Pictures below)
The Ebay seller said it was "approximately" 0.70 carrot total weight. Macy''s (and yes it is the EXACT same ring) has it as 1/3 carrot total weight. Unless my math is way off, this is almost half the size quoted by the Ebay seller. I haven''t contacted them yet about it.
I do like the ring, but I am kind of miffed that it is a lot less carrot weight than I thought I was buying. The ebay seller on the auction states no returns. I bought through Paypal with a credit card.
What would you do in this circumstance? What would you say to the seller? I do like the ring a lot. It''s much prettier than it shows up in the picture (especially the ones from Macy''s). It''s got a lot of sparkle, but yet the diamonds are a little cloudy when looked at some angles.
Any advice?
