Hi Ms.,

You've got two really different stones here, so we're not comparing apples with apples. The first is a more traditional round brilliant, while the other is geared a bit more toward fire. Both could be lovely, but they will behave slightly different across the board.

If I were rich, I'd love to have a second ring with a FIC in it. If I could only have one, I would personally pick the first one.

I would recommend taking whichever one you get to an independant appraiser, as BN simply doesn't give enough info on their stones. And as Lorelei pointed out, inclusions need to be discussed.

Also, she raises a good point in regards to upgrading, if there is the possibility of that in the future.

HTH!

Thanks for the input Ellen, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I found out that they are both completely eyeclean, which is good.

I have communicated all the info to my BF about the diamonds I like, and also have told him that I think I prefer the more traditional RB, 1.37. (In the past I''ve also pointed out the general types of settings I like). He thinks it''s great that I''m doing all this research, since I''ve obviously found out tons of valuable info from PS, but he is a little sad that some of the surpirse element is lost--I guess he''s kind of traditional in that way. So now, in an attempt to re-gain some element of surprise, he has told me it''s time to officially butt out and let him take care of it all....ahhhhh this is not easy!! All I know is that that BN diamond is no longer available for purchase online (!) but I''m trying to just ignore it all and study for final exams!

Anyway, thanks again for

Aw, can''t blame a guy for trying! I''m sure you''ll end up with a gorgeous ring, and we want to see pics when you finally get it!

Now off to the books for you.
