Anyone? I'm about to make a purchase on it

Can you get an idealscope image to check on light return?

I'll try to ask them... but by the specs does it seem pretty good? Also. What does it mean about the light return?

Here's a photo! What do you think? She said that it's noted down that it is "eye clean."

Personally, it would not be a stone for me. it's a 60/60 stone and I dont care for the look of them. Without an idealscope
I cant tell you any more.

What is your budget?

: okay thank you... Budget is around 2,000-2,300

Thank you for that link! Also , as I'm still new to learning about diamonds, what is it that you mean that it's a 60/60 stone?

Hi! I was just reading this thread and I have a question. If a stone is a 60/60 stone, how come it says it's an ideal cut? Is that range so broad that it can allow for those widths?

Sorry, don't mean to interrupt this thread, I'm just curious and thought I would ask! I'm way more into settings than anything else, but lately, I've been a little more interested in diamond specifics.

Thanks! :wavey:

Diamond companies can call diamonds ideal but it really doesn't mean a thing unless the stone is graded ideal cut by AGS. Also, within GIA excellent, there are good and bad stones.

The stone posted it not one I would personally recommend. Light return refers to light reflecting back out of the stone. Stones that are well cut have a lot of light reflecting back. Stones with a lot of leakage do not have as much. Cut is the most important factor when choosing a diamond. Please do not rush to pick a stone.

I know this stone is smaller than you want. But I am posting it so you can see what a photo of a well cut stone looks like. Then you see the other red images. The Diamxray/idealscope image shows a perfect cut with no leakage.

I'll look and see if I see anything good.

I am looking but having great difficulty finding anything good in your size in J VS2-SI1.

If you can go a little higher on the stone, this has great numbers and is a bump up in color:

This has potential but with no pictures, we can't judge anything about the clarity.

@diamondseeker2006 Thank you so much! Can you give me an Idea of what type of %'s/ numbers I need to look and when trying to find a great diamond!

You can run stones through the HCA tool. Anything that scores 2 or under is worth a farther look.
https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca

The numbers that are pretty safe are

table 54-58%
depth 60-62.3%
crown - 34-35 degrees
pavilion - 40.6-41 degrees

These are some nice stones that fall outside of this range but you really need an idealscope to check on the light return.

Your best bet is to look into the stones PSers have posted because we usually check all that information and we can look
at stones off the bat and tell whether they will be decent or not.

You can also learn lots under the Knowledge pull down.

Thank you so much for answering my question, diamondseeker! :)

Here are a couple more options a little more friendly on the budget due to the "very good" polish rating. It is highly unlikely you would see any difference. Note that the last has strong blue fluoro that you will have to ask the vendor about. These also have higher clarity so they will be eye clean for sure.

And a couple larger stones closer to the upper end of your budget.

This one won't be a whole lot larger visually from the 0.8c but it does have medium blue fluorescence which is nice for a J color stone.

And here is another stone that I could have sworn I posted before and had to look back to find out you had another thread going that I had posted this in for you. This one has images that look great and is not too bad on budget.

Here is an option that offers higher color and clarity but still in budget. Very safe numbers as well.

Another really great looking I color, but lower clarity. ASET looks really good.

Another cheaper option with really good images but questionable clarity. I would not buy unless they can confirm feather is eye clean and I would be sure to have a good appraiser check it for durability issues within the 30 day return period. (this would not be my first choice unless budget is a concern)

And one last one that is budget friendly too.

Those are the truly "ideal" cut diamonds I could find with images without going up to superideal where I assume you will have to go down in size or up in color. Hope that helps!

The measurements that tyty listed are the same as what I recommend to stay in a safe zone when trying to buy from a virtual inventory (stones listed from suppliers with no pics). I had my search settings for GIA excellent for cut, polish, and symmetry, but I am okay with the ones pfunk posted from B2C that have very good for polish. That said, I do think if you can swing it that going for I color would be better. And I just cannot recommend buying an SI stone blind. There is just too much risk and it is sort of a pain buying and returning stones. I am also uncertain about buying from Enchanted Diamonds from some questionable posts here on the forum and cannot recommend that site at this time.

@pfunk THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'll go check it out! :)

@diamondseeker2006 : what about the b2Cjewels website? Are they pretty legit?

My late father-in-law, who was in the trade here in NYC, never wanted to get involved with, e.g., neighbors or friends of friends who were shopping for diamonds. B2C is one of those whom he recommended to retail shoppers.
