Hi All,

I am new here and any help would be great. I am looking at a ring and diamond on Bluenile.com and I was wondering if it is a good setup. My concern is that the diamond my look small in the setting I chose. It is an Emerald cut .60 carat diamond. I just can't tell how big that is really. I want to make sure it does not look to small. Here is the link to the setting. Please let me know if this will look nice or silly in person:

Diamond: http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_details.asp?pid=LD00341035&filter_id=1

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

The link you posted doesn''t work. It just takes you back to build a ring.

Okay, I have a couple of thoughts. Does she have pretty long fingers? This ring is about 4mm wide and the wedding band is 3.75mm. So that's almost 8mm which is pretty wide, but probably fine on most people unless they have short fingers.

I am honestly not wild about that setting for an emerald cut. I sort of like square stones such as princess, asscher, or baguettes in the setting for an emerald cut diamond. A .60 ct. emerald cut will be pretty small to set in a 4mm wide setting. Usually, a narrower band will make the stone look larger.

As far as the stone itself goes, they don't even show a picture. I'd be a little hesitant about very good cut, and I'd want at least very good polish and symmetry. Have you searched on sites like Good Old Gold or WhiteFlash who actually have a lot of stones in-house so that you can see pictures, etc. of the actual stones?

Did she pick out this setting? Did she ask for an emerald cut? I'll look and see if I see any stones.

ETA: James Allen has some that are listed Ideal Cut. That would help a lot to narrow them down, even if he doesn't have pictures. You could call him and ask him about specific stones. I'd advise you to consider going less expensive on the setting and put more into the diamond so that you could get around .70-.75 cts. I didn't see any on WF or GOG in your size and price range.
