I'm thinking about buying a .76ct, Si1, C6, radiant diamond for about $800. Would that be a good deal for a champagne? It has nice color (I'll attach pictures) and comes from a reputable seller. It's unenhanced/untreated.
I'd only trust GIA to determine whether it's unheated and untreated.
Does it have a GIA report?
If not I'd pass, but that's just me.
What does GIA call the color?
I'd ignore informal marketing terms like cognac, chocolate, Champagne, Single Malt Whiskey, scotch or Budwiser.
Assessing relative value depends on what hues GIA gives it and the order in which they list those hues.
For instance Brownish Orange would be more valuable than Orangish Brown.
Brown Orange is worth less than Brownish Orange and Orange Brown is worth more than Orangish Brown.
Brown lowers the price and orange increases it.
Finding comparable FCDs for price comparison is near-impossible since little variations (even within the exact same GIA color grade) can change the price a great deal, even from the same vendor.
Sorry to be of little help but FCDs are a rarified world, with little data to go by.
