Is this a good inclusion diagram?

Hey PS nation,

Came across what looked to be a great diamond for a great price. I took a look at the inclusion diagram and was not sure what to make of it. I figured all the experts out there may be willing to help a novice out. Keep in mind this is a SI2 clarity. Also I found this on bluenile (yes I know, its not ideal, but it was a great price). So since I cant have someone inspect the diamond before I purchase it, I was hoping maybe one of you could give me your opinion if these were bad inclusions that wouldn't make the stone "eye-clean". Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

IMO there is no such thing as a good inclusion diagram. The plot is there for ID purposes and does not tell you whether a stone is eye clean or not. But in general, I think it's safe to say that most SI2 stones on the virtual lists are most likely not eye clean. The cleaner and better cut ones are most likely already bought and being sold as in house inventory.

Blue Nile can ask the supplier to see if it is Eye Clean. I would highly recommend you at least do that before you purchased it. What are the other specs on the stone?

I did not know they could do that. I will definitely be asking them to do that! Thanks for that info. Other specs are as follows:

RB
1.2
F
SI2
HCA 0.9(ex-ex-ex-vg)
polish/sym: ex/ex
fluor: med blue

Too many inclusions on the table for me. I'd drop a couple of color grades and try to clean up the clarity a bit.

Me too. I'd go for an H-I color stone and SI1 clarity.

Be careful about jumping to conclusions here.

Sometimes one diamond will have only one inclusion under the table while another of the same GIA clarity grade will have several.
Odds are that single inclusions will be larger, nastier, more noticeable and unfortunately located than the several inclusions.

Of course you have to see them to judge them on a case by case basis, but I can understand the logic of actually seeking out the ones with the most inclusions if the goal is eye-clean.

Here is an example of the reply I got back from Blue Nile:

Hello!

We spoke a few days ago on the phone about a specific diamond you were looking at and whether or not it is eye clean. This diamond, item LD02336485, was reviewed by its vendor and this is what they had to say about it: "This is a really nice si2. No visible imperfections to the eye. Also I'd say the light falls under excellent scope. Very lively." I hope that information helps you in your decision. For now, I have "promised" this diamond to you. The diamond will remain on hold for 48 hours, and after that time period, the hold will automatically fall off & the diamond will become available to purchase by any other of our customers.

I wound up buying this stone, but through ID jewlery. Through them I was able to see the stone in person, see pictures, idealscope, H&A viewer and ASET. They also beat the price.

If you are interested in this stone I would recommend contacting IDJewlery and getting it through them so you can have all this information, don't have to buy blind, and beat the price.

So I just got off the phone with them and they will check it out and send me an email tommorrow. So does blue nile get its stones from ID? Just tried going to their website (www.idjewelryonline.com) and it seems like the prices are a bit higher than what blue nile is selling this particular diamond for. Not sure if they do not have the actual stone there b/c I have it on hold on blue nile.

The full specs of the diamond:
1.23 (6.83 - 6.85 x 4.24)
F
SI2
Cut: Ideal
Table: 56%
Depth: 62%
CA: 35
PA: 40.6
HCA 0.9
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick
Cutlet: None
Polish/Symm: Ex/Ex
Fluoro: Med Blue

and the price on blue nile: $7,046!

Let IDJ know that Blue Nile has a better price and they will beat it.

I am not sure where the physical stone would is. Probably not at IDJ or Bluenile but the supplier of them.
