Hi All,

I am new to reading idealscope images, however I got this image back from a dealer and I think it looks good as there is a ton of red and hardly any white. Can someone give me a better analysis of this?

Thanks!

All looks fine!

Did you have some specific concern?

Thanks Yssie!

My concern was I have no idea what to look for on an idealscope image. I am unsure if the black portions are good/bad or neutral? I know the minimal amount of white is good, but other than that I'm lost!

It's excellent!

Excellent sounds good!

Teach me how to understand why its excellent!

Ditto, check out SinkingFun's link and the rest of the HowTo on that website, and https://www.pricescope.com/tools/ideal-scope

The actual scope is the "idealscope". They put a camera up to the eyepiece and photograph through the scope to get that pic. The eyepiece is black, and the black in the stone is indicative of facets reflecting the black of the eyepiece directly above. The red means the facets are drawing and returning light at an angle, not directly above. The white means the facets aren't returning light at all.

Light return (red) is good, some contrast due to obstruction (black) is good, some contrast due to leakage (white) IMO is good though some would disagree (sometimes you will see IS pictures that are blood red, no white at all ::) in any case it's nothing to worry about, your stone looks fine!)

Do you have it reserved? If so post the link or report number and exact ct weight as it is listed on the report.

It is perfect. Why is it perfect? Because that is exactly what you want it to look like :cheeky:

Hi Yssie,

The report information is as follows:

The store has verfied it is eye clean and faces up white!

But what more can you tell me by looking at the report?

Report info did not come through

I want to look at age of report, inclusion plot, proportions diagram for girdle thickness... is it being sold as a H&A stone? If so post hearts and arrows pics.

Not sure why it wont upload the full image, but here's the details about the diamond! The report is dated April 03, 2012

All looks fine :sun:
If it's being sold as hearts and arrows confirm hearts and arrows with pics (or if you're buying in-person have them show you the patterns through a H&A scope)

Its a beaut!

GORGEOUS choice! Nothing to concern me there. I say go for it.

Hi All,

I'm so excited to hear the great feedback! I'm feeling confident this is the right decision!

I was able to get an ASET image on this stone and wanted to share to hear feedback on this as well:
