It appears to be a nicely cut stone, not up to superideal standards but a good make cutwise. If it is with an online vendor, can you ask for an Idealscope image? That would be helpful. The table is just a tad larger than many we see here, but some like that look. Is the diamond with an online vendor or have you seen the diamond in person? If you want to buy this diamond, make the sale final on it checking out favourably with an independant appraiser, you can use this tool to find one in your area.

Do you know, or have you checked that this diamond is eyeclean to your standards?

I saw it at a local jeweler that my family knows really well. So I know they wouldn't try to sell me a terrible diamond, but we are trying to find out just how good of a buy it is. We found a white gold band there that we like (about 1.6 total carat weight including e ring and wedding band). They quoted us $8000 with tax and everything for the entire package.

Oh yeah, we have seen it and it is eyeclean.

HCA- It got a 1.2

Are the jewellers family friends? I just wanted to mention that we have seen purchases from family friends go awry here, so just proceed with caution. You can check pricing using the Pricescope your Diamond: tool above to get an idea of similar prices, brick and mortar jewellers are usually more expensive, enter your specs, EGL report, colour and clarity, carat and see what comes up.
