Is this a good diamond?

I just put this diamond on hold for purchase. Not withstanding the price, I wanted to know if this is considered to be a good stone.

I contacted the vendor and received the following comments on the diamond:

"This diamond has a small black inclusion in the table with a small spreaded white inclusion in the pavilion with black in it. The stone also has a very small natural in the girdle and a very small white feather in the pavilion. This diamond is also 100% eye clean as none of the inclusions are visible to the naked eyes. The diamond also has a completely white face up with excellent brilliance and fire in it."

Here's the ASET image that was sent to me by the vendor:

The HCA IS 1.3

I've collected all of the data I can but I don't have any prior experience with buying diamonds and some extra perspective would be very appreciated.

Here's the GIA cert.

Sorry about the continual postings, but I just wanted to add that my main concern is how brilliant and fiery the stone is. I know the vendor has relayed that it is in fact brilliant and fiery, but I don't know how to discern that for myself from the information given. I've read that white areas on an ASET image represent light leakage and I do see a fair amount of white on the image for this stone.

I've also put a good amount of time into trying to understand what makes a diamond 'steep and deep', but I haven't been able to wrap my mind around it. Is this diamond steep and deep?

I'd be so grateful for anyone weighing in on this for me. Thanks for taking the time to look.

Re: Should I Buy This Diamond?

Please, anyone?

It says it is out of stock, did you end up buying it?

Yes, I did. I'll receive it by Friday, so I guess I'll be able to answer my own question lol

I bet the diamond will look great!

The 35.5 is a tad steeper than ideal, but is offset nicely by the 40.6 PA which is on the shallow end of the ideal range. The diamond is a tiny bit deep - which probably reduces the spread a tiny bit, but probably not something you'd notice since your rock is already 2+ carats!

The ASET image of the diamond looks great. Its red, blue, and green in all the right places. I wouldn't be worried about the white areas, its normal to have white at those spots.

The 80% lower girdles halves is going to give you pinfire flashes instead of broader flashes, which I personally like on 2+ carat diamonds since all the facets are larger anyway.

Numbers look great to me. Yes, the crown is a little higher than 'perfect' for some, but with the pavilion angle balancing it I think it's a great stone.

Thank you both for your insights. It's got me even more excited!

I've been teaching myself about how to assess a stone for a few months now but I've learned something new again, and I'm sure I will continue to! I'll post a picture of the stone after I see it tomorrow. Can't wait!

Received this diamond Friday and we're so happy with it!! It almost seems like a shame to put it in a setting now.

HUH? No,no, you want to put it in a setting so you can gape at it without fear of losing it   Congrats on the gorgeous stone. How are you setting it? Promise to come back and post photos... we love bling photos. :appl:

lol Good point about the setting.

It's going to be set in a very simple micro pave band. It's for an engagement ring, so the next time I see it, I'll be engaged!

I'm glad photos are welcome and appreciated here because it lets me gush about this longer than I can to my friends! :D

She's all set!

It is stunning, congrats!! The setting beautifully compliments your big stone and makes it the star :appl: Did I mention your diamond looks huge??

Thanks emmebee! I definitely wanted an understated band so that the stone would be the star. My finger is a size 3, so I'm sure that contributes to the look of the stone's size. Either way, I'm enjoying it while the perception lasts lol.
