is this a good diamond/deal?

I found this diamond....

COLOR GRADE I,CLARITY GRADE SI 1

POLISH VERY GOOD,SYMMETRY GOOD

FLUORESCENCE FAINT

depth- 76.4%
table -72%
girdle-med- very thick

It comes with GIA certification, it is laser inscribed, and used
The seller is asking 2699.00- I offered him 2200.00 and have yet to hear back

knowing all this information- do you think this is a good deal?

Based on the dimensions this stone sizes up more like a 1 ct.

I''ve been looking for quite a while now for a "good deal" in our price range- which this definately is.... but when you say that it sizes up more like a 1 ct. what do you mean? the dimen. or how it will look because of the way it is cut? It is certified by GIA as a 1.24....

It might weigh 1.24 carats, but it won''t necessarily look like 1.24 carats if the cut is bad. The dimensions show you how big it will look "face up", and are a product of a good or bad cutting job.

no one has really said though.... is it a decent cut- I''m not looking for perfection- I am sure I will probably love it regardless- but I can''t stand the feeling of getting ripped off

It looks like it might be clarity enhanced from the picture....notice the pink colors coming from part of the diamond? Are you SURE it is GIA certified?

it''s an online auction by a pawn dealer- the only reason I am considering it is because it was GIA certified.... As I have said before, I''m not looking for the perfect diamond- I would like somehting of better quality than you see at the mall- which I feel it is- can anyone enlighten me a little more on this? Every time I think I have it figured out I learn more- I don''t know how I will ever choose!

I''m not wild about hunting for "good deals" in diamonds from auctions etc. If you buy from a great online vendor, you will get top quality for the best price, and to me THAT is the best deal around.

If you buy this diamond, then make sure you have a 100% refund policy with a fair return period (10 days perhaps) and then have it independently appriased (not my a mall jeweler, by a proper appraiser). Just because it is GIA doesn''t mean it looks great, there are no grading rules/standards for fancy shapes like princess and lots of ugly ones come with a cert. Only your eyes can judge the fancies, and those pictures are lame which makes me highly skeptical.

Ditto to DD. Make the sale contingent on an appraisal, send it to a great appraiser and they can examine it for you and tell you if it''s a good cut or not.

Without better pictures or idealscope, or ASET images we just can''t tell you much about the cut because it''s a fancy.
