Is this a good deal?

1.24ct oval, H color SI1 GIA cert for $6,000?
I am pretty lost and the diamond is coming from a family friend who is a jeweler. I naturally do not trust anyone I buy something from and I came here for the expertise. I appreciate any insight.

We can't tell you whether or not it is a good price without knowing more information/seeing it/an ASET. For general price comps, you can use the "diamonds search" tool under the resources tab on this site. I did a quick check and it looks to be in line with similar stone prices.

Can you provide what the GIA cert #, that would provide some helpful info about the cut (but definitly still need an IS/ASET image to be certain)

Sorry. I thought it was a RB, not a Oval. The dimensions on the GIA cert won't be that helpful for a non RB. You will need to get a ASET picture. It may be worthwhile to buy an ASET so that you can use it to look at the diamond. Otherwise go to a vendor who can provide them.

I will have the cert # tonight. It is a close family friend and i have seen the stone in person several times its dimensions are 8.43 x6.34x3.72 if that helps any. It looks nice I am just unsure if it will be big enough for a 6.5 finger.

Well if the only thing you will be sure about is if it will be big enough - yes, it will be big enough! What kind of setting were you planning on?
