First let me say thanks. I just found this forum and I already feel better about shopping for an engagement ring. My girlfriend loves pear cut diamonds. Both of us have been married before. Her first ring was a round cut, so that one is out of the picture, just so you know:)

I want to spend around $4000 for the stone. It will be a solitaire setting in white gold/platinum. I found this diamond. Is this the best I can do for my budget? Like most, I am really wanting to see the sparkle more than anything. In my previous marriage I did no research, bought a princess cut, then noticed it didn''t sparkle nearly as much as I would have liked. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Also, in your experience, would the appraisal be close to what this one costs? thanks again

Welcome!

Pears can't be judged by the numbers so much, they really need to be seen to be evaluated, but what you have there looks like a lovely pear ( just my type

) which is being sold by an excellent vendor who knows his fancy shapes! It looks like the table measurement is smaller on the GIA report than on the details at the side of the diamond....

I would contact Jon at GOG and ask him about the pear, I know you will find he is a great guy and will advise you every step of the way as to this pear's suitability for you.

GOG has a great reputation here; I agree w/Lorelei's suggestions. I would call them up and talk to them about that pear and maybe they could bring in another pear as a comparison. Best wishes on your pear search; I love the look of a pear!!

Oooh! That looks like a gorgeous pear!!!

I don''t know anything about judging the pear numbers, but as others have said, GOG has an outstanding reputation here!!!
