An acquaintance was showing me her new e-ring. She was telling me that she doesn''t know a thing about diamonds, so she had to look at the papers (I think AGS report?) to find out what the name of the shape of her diamond is. She said it was a Princess something or other. It looked like an RB to me.

Is this an unusual cut? Or do you think they gave her FI the wrong report when he bought the ring? Even though I would have loved to have seen the AGS report, I did not ask to because I don''t know her well enough. It would have been rude. It''s possible that she did not remember the name correctly, but she was pretty positive it was some sort of Princess cut.

princess cuts are referred to as ''square modified brilliant'' on grading reports. there is definintely a difference between the two. if it was round, it wasn''t a princess.

Hmmm... I just thought of something. Maybe she was looking at papers describing her setting and not her diamond? She has a solitaire, gold band with platinum basket. Is there a setting that has the name Princess in it?

it''s entirely possible. settings styles are much like shoe styles....there''s a different name for every one
