Then just ask the vendor to hold it.
Yes, it used to be here, but certain individuals or groups of individuals abused it in a manner that was harmful to the integrity of what Pricescope stands for, truthful, accurate and unbiased information to the consumer.Date: 11/23/2008 10:41:54 AM

Why is that? Most forums have this capability and I know PS used to have it many years ago.
That is easy, simply contact the vendor and ask him/her about it. If you wish to ask the forum, ask the vendor to put a hold on it for 24 or 48 hours.Date: 11/23/2008 12:49:28 PM

It’s too easy to abuse. Pricescope is a very large venue. People can read the various threads and then make private offers of competitive products, privately and anonymously slam their competitors goods and otherwise engage in sleezy behavior. Aside from being destructive to the advertisers here (which is what keeps this place afloat), the whole point of Pricescope is to improve transparency and communication and this takes it the opposite direction. It was tried, it was a problem and they fixed it.

This was done to the detriment of one or more vendors and for the benefit of other vendors.
Because of this abuse it was decided by the then owners to shut down that functionality of Pricescope for the overall health of what is a tremendous resource for the novice who is questing for the knowledge necessary to get a fair price on a great diamond.
While it does make it a little more difficult for consumers to find one another, it is almost always possible to reach a vendor should you decide to do so.
It also protects you from receiving unsolicited offers for one diamond when you are questioning about another.
In my opinion, it was a wise decision and I believe it improved the viability and usefulness of Pricescope.
