Hello,
I''m new here.

I had my diamond solitaire ring setting changed. It was originally a 4 prong (1 carat), with a crown/prong height of 3.5 mm. It was too low and the setting appeared boxy. I had it changed to a v-shaped setting with a height of 5mm. I wouldn''t think that 1.5 mm would make a difference, but to "me," it does.

I know height is a personal preference, but I''m not sure if I just need time to adjust to the slightlly higher setting? I tried to contact Tiffany''s just to get an idea of what their prong setting height is but they keep replying with the wrong info. I know each diamond is different, and that Tiffany''s ring is a 6 prong, but I just wanted a general idea of what their setting height would be for a 1 carat.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance.

I''d like to post a picture but not sure how to do that yet.

[/url] on how to post a pic.

I''m not sure if that would be considered high or not. A pic would really help, though some may know just by the numbers.

Hi Ellen and Sera,

Thank you for your replies. I can''t post a picture right now but here is a link to what it is I''m trying to find out:

Some feedback on prong setting heights. Hope that''s helpful.

Thanks also for the suggestion that I might need more time to adjust. It''s strange I''m sure, but I don''t know why I''m so obsessed and worried .. perhaps because I''ve had it chanaged a few times now and still not satisifed. I won''t be changing it again.

I''d be interested to know the heights of other posters settings as well.

I think the promise ring I''m wearing is about 6.5mm tall from the base of the ring (inside of circle) to the top of the prongs. It doesn''t seem to high at all. My e-ring in it''s temp setting was higher than that (never measured it and now it''s off getting reset), and I felt it was too high for me.

I agree with Ellen that it''s partly personal and you may need time to adjust even though it''s only 1.5mm higher.
