Wedding Is my highlighting too trendy for a wedding updo?

I love my hair style....er... uh.....should I say hair-color-style. I don''t know what you call it.... But is it too trendy for wedding hair? I worry that it will scream ''08 when I am looking back at my wedding pictures.

My hair is sort of two-toned. I have naturally light-brown hair, but I highlight the top with lots of blonde. The underside of my hair is just my natural hair. I love how the brown peeks out from under the blonde and I actually think it looks pretty cool when it is in an updo.

But is it too "cool" for wedding hair? I am trying my best to look "classic"

So should I just dye it all blonde for the wedding?

And this is my inspiration pic for my hair. The curls will be weaved through each other so I don''t think it will be blond on top and brown on bottom. I think it will be more streaky looking... but I''m not sure if even that is too trendy....

Are you having a trial? I think that if it''s spread out through the curls, you won''t be able to tell that much.

Could you add a middle tone instead of going all blonde? Have a middle section be more of a honey blond than going from almost white blonde to brown? Everything would probably blend in really well then...

I love the color, but it's a bit off the mark if you're aiming for classic. I like Freke's suggestion of making it a honey tone as opposed to going all one color. Your curls may come out quite piecy looking, if that makes sense, if you leave it as is. But how many pictures do you plan on taking of the back of your head? And will you be wearing a veil? I'd take those things into consideration and do a trial run with your stylist before totally changing a dye job you love to see what exactly you're going to end up with.

I''m with freke, that hair coloring is not going to look very classic in an updo but you don''t have to go white blond either. Honey would give it the class and a little more definition, which you might want.

I agree. I think that it''s beautiful as it is though however if you''re going for something more classic, I think that Honey is the way to go.

I think the hairstyle you''ve chosen is really lovely! It''s pretty much what I want, too.

Although I do think the coloring of your hair may look ''dated,'' it''s really up to you! Integrating the two colors might look a little softer in pictures, so I like the idea of going with a honey tone. Would it be possible to ''low-light'' the top portion of your blonde hair, adding in some of your natural color to tone down the white blonde? My mom has this done regularly to integrate her silver hair with her dark brown hair, and it''s pretty fabulous—nobody even realizes that she''s gotten it done, and everyone thinks she''s lost weight or gotten a facelift or something.

Thanks for all your comments. I''m still a little unsure of what I should do. I think the best thing to do is probably put the honey blonde in, but I really am sad to put anything in my pure hair under there. I sort of like that it is untouched. Plus I was thinking of going back to my natural color after the wedding. Although I doubt I will since it doesn''t work with my skintone as well as the blonde does. I also will only have one more dye-job before the wedding so I am worried about messing with it too much.

Oh and did I meniton I wasn''t planning on having a trial for my hair

I am eloping so I just didn''t want to have to pay for it. Hmmm.....maybe I''ll have to try it and then decide what to do.... Ugh eloping is somehow becoming veeery expensive!

I hear ya on the hair trial thing. Could you have a friend/sister/relative who is handy with hair do a ''trial'' for you, so you could see how it looks just how it is? I''d be nervous, too, about dyeing so close to the wedding. Good luck!

Mia your hair is really cute and I like the updo you like! Hmmm...you want to find the perfect balance since you do want to look like yourself at the wedding. Why don''t you try adding some "lowlights" I think that''s what Freke suggested before. Or you could dye it all the same shade as the highlights. So much of your hair is highlighted on top, could you have them dye the bottom to match? I think that makes sense!

See I was thinking like this:

light blonde on top
honey blonde in middle
natural color as is

So that there is a gradient instead of being more of an in your face kind of thing. And I was thinking of dyeing the blonde part the honey color instead of your natural. So it would be like lowlights, but only in the bottom part of the blonde hair. I totally know what you mean about not wanting to dye your natural hair-I''ve gone through that a lot before. I don''t even think it would take that much honey hair to blend it in better. Anyway. Something to think about. I still think it''ll turn out well.

And I second the have someone close to you try out the style on your hair and see how it turns out.

I agree with this 100%. You should stick to what you think is truly ''you'' on your day. If you don''t want to change some of your hair then don''t. I''m going for some ''classic'' type looks with my wedding ensemble but as you know my hair is purple and black. I''m not letting that stop me though!

Snazz it up if you need to but don''t do a total revamp if you''re not comfortable with it, you may not be happy with it and you''d have done major changes before your wedding day that may not be easily changed back.

Thanks guys, yes the more I think about it, I really don''t want to change my "do" for my wedding. It usually does look pretty cool when it is in an updo so I know it will look okay. My main concern was that it will make my wedding pictures look dated.... but WHO CARES. I think of wedding pictures from the 80''s that look "so eighties" and I used to think I would try and avoid that. But honestly, who am I kidding? This is how I look now.

Freke- Yep if I do decide to do anything I will do the honey highlights you recommended because they will go along with my current style and they would be underneath. I wouldn''t dare add anything on top for fear of it coming out too "streaky." But yes honey highlights would definitely enhance what I''ve already got going on. Plus my FI has been asking me to add another color (although he is probably thinking red!)

Violet- Thanks for chiming in. I was wondering if you were going to keep the purple. I couldn''t remember if I asked you at the meetup. I''d definitely be trying to talk you into keeping it if it were you, so I have to remember the same applies to me!

Ooooh!!!! Thanks for those pics SDL. You''re hair is beautiful and I really love that black and white shot, not only because it shows off your hair but from a photography standpoint it is a gorgeous shot. I love the Jenny Garth picture too, thanks so much it was exactly what I needed!
