Hi all,

I was wondering, is it possible to find a halo style ring (white gold or plat), with a decent diamond (.75 to 1.0ct), for around $4,000?

Minimal specs for the center stone would be:

Shape: Round
Carat: .75 - 1.0
Color: H
Carlity: SI1
Cut: Very Good (fire is good)
Cert: GIA or AGSL

An idea of the style would be something like this: http://www.alitocollection.com/Diamond_Jewelry/Firenze/Diamond_Rings/R1030/

I do NOT want to buy online, because I''d rather see it in person. Are there any brick and mortar dealers that could work with me on that price?

Thanks!

Hmmm...you can certainly get something around .75 carat, but you might have to drop your specs (maybe go to an eyeclean SI2 or an I color) a bit on the stone depending on the price of the setting. But you might be able to do it.

Do you want to deal with someone near you? Or just someone that has a B&M location as well? Pearlman's Jewelers and Good Old Gold are B&M stores with online presences as well that would be good choices. Pearlman's is in Michigan and Good Old Gold is on Long Island in NY.

I''m not 100% sure, but for that size, with those specs, and a halo...nope, esp. if your not interested in going with an online vendor. If you are interested in having something like that, and are worried about not seeing it in person, try goodoldgold.com
He''ll emaiil you pics, and videos so that way you can see everything. It is a store, but they also do things online.

Also, if you get a hearts and arrows stone, you can go down in color, and it will still face up white because it''s the CUT that is king.

Whiteflash is also wonderful. Here is a dimaond that I am 100% sure will face up white because it''s ACA, which means its in the top 1% of all ideal cut diamonds. It will not only have FIRE but MORE THAN YOU"VE EVER SEEN.

This will give you a little about 1800.00 for a setting.
Here is a setting

Here is another setting

That hits your budget and you''ll have the ring your looking for.

If you MUST have H color (if your color sensitive, i highly doubt you''ll see any color in a J ideal cut stone though)
here is one, make sure any SI clairtys are eye clean

You can''t go wrong with whiteflash. They''ll send you pics and garentee their work. If you really want to get what your looking for, with quality, go with an online vendor.

Hope this helps!

Hmm. So maybe something more between .65 - .75?

As far as the dealer, the most important thing is that I can see the diamond in person. I was thinking about Diamonds Direct at SouthPark Mall in Charlotte,NC. They seem to have a really large selection. There are also tons of Kays, Reed''s, ect.. around where I live.

I was also considering the possibility of keeping the center stone between .75- 1.0, and keeping the halo, but buying a ring that does NOT have melee stones on the sides. However, I simply have not seen many rings like that. Most halo rings seem to have melee stones all down the sides as well. ... and, I like the melee stones. I feel like it definitely adds to the sparkle of the ring as a whole.

I hope to be able to find something in my budget

An option that you can do, if your worried about it, is have the stone sent to an independent appraiser so that way you can veiw it for yourself before you commit to buy it. I know many online vendors will do that for you.
Just an option, your going to get more bang for your buck, and a diamond district, you really have to know your stuff to not get taken for. Do a search on whiteflash and goodoldgold. You will be in good hands and you will look like you have a 8000.00 ring, instead of the 4 you paid. I promise.

Yes on one and likely no on two.
