Is it ok to wear an 18K band against Plat?

Hi everyone! After "lurking" for a couple of weeks, I see how one can get addicted to the wealth of information here! Thank you for that!

Here is my question...I have a Simon G eternity band that goes all around in 18K. I love it...I want to reset my 92 point round diamond in a new setting,(its not a Simon G) and wear it up against the solitaire. I''m thinking about upgrading to a plat solitaire ~ will it damage my Simon G 18K band if it is up against a plat mounting?
