...or do you ever think "no, maybe I shouldn't post this on SMTB because it's not quite big enough / valuable enough to appeal to the PS audience"?

I have serious bling envy every single time I go to SMTB and see gorgeous pieces that are much bigger than what I have (and probably will ever have!). So, yes, I've thought that from time to time. I do think it's a silly thought though. I love to see everyone's jewelry, no matter what size.

I completely understand the bling envy! That is exactly what I go through every time I go on SMTB... And then I feel all embarrassed about my little collection. :(

I wish I could be a bit more confident about posting pictures of my stuff but I honestly feel like no one would comment and that would make me feel bad.

Weird, because I'm not normally an insecure person.

I get that feeling too. The bigger/blingier/most expensive pieces have the longest threads. I figure I can live vicariously through the ladies lucky enough to be able to afford such big bling! I'm perfectly happy with my e-ring/wedding band and the other pieces in my small collection.

I feel that way sometimes...maybe we need a "Baby Bling" thread for some of our smaller items!

Me personally, no, because I like what I like. Its never going to be the biggest or most amazing thing out there, but I picked it out because it's what I like and will be wearing. When my other ring was stolen, and I was looking for a replacement of the same cut, I got a lot of crap from the die-hard cut nuts because I didn't want an H&A round and they just could not handle me NOT wanting an H&A because I wouldn't get the biggest and best there was. I also couldn't find a VS2 or below I was comfortable with. So I sacrificed size and to get a clarity and cut I was happy with. I felt like if I was going to get a round, I wanted the same cut I had before. I did vacillate on whether to stick with a round at all, though I am glad I did.

Obviously some days this place and another jewelry one I go to give me serious DSS issues, but usually I go back about my life and I am fine. I know that my stone is by no means tiny, and is well beyond what I thought I would ever own! I think it's neat to SEE the big monsters that get all the attention here, but I like seeing everything. When I look through my (alarmingly huge) collection of Wedding magazines, I am always gawking for the ring shot in all the real wedding stories. I don't care how big it is, I just want to see it! I do think it's kind of lame that the big monsters are what get the majority of the attention though. I don't comment as much as I think I should, mostly bec some days if my computer has me logged out Im too lazy to click log in. :o

Trekkie-don't feel embarrassed! On the 'show me all of your bling' thread I plan to add a picture soon that has all of my bling...ring, studs, and pendant. And maybe I'll throw in one silver/gold necklace, and a colored stone pendant that I have...definitely not anywhere near the collection of some PSers! I like seeing rings of all shapes and sizes-so add whatever you have!

I wouldn't post my AVC ering because... well, it's a simple solitaire, and there are pics of rings that look almost exactly like mine. It's about a carat, so... I guess I wouldn't be adding anything new to the board.

BUT! The colored stone world is a whole other story, I think. Every colored stone is different, no matter the size. So much variety, I personally love to see every single one. But I'm more of a CS person, I may be biased ;))

I would love to see a pic of your AVC! I COVET one, and i actuall prefer the smaller ones in solitaires, mostly because I would prefer a lower color for myself. PLEASE SHARE!!!!!

Yup, I feel like that too. However, I like variety, so I like to see any size and material on SMTB. I like variety, and I especially love seeing colored stones used in jewelry, or white diamonds used in unique designs.

Lovebug: aw, thanks! Will do... now to figure out which thread it should go into... I'm a little lost outside the CS section ::) I think I'll put it into the "show me your AVC" thread in SMTB.

Oh, so THAT"S what SMTB stands for. LOL

Yeah, I think it is inevitable that people are going to react more to more-expensive stuff.

I don't post there very much because I own a lot of colored stones. And I feel like Colored stones are more appreciated by Colored Stoners who rarely venture out of CS.

I have diamonds, but I don't particularly want to share them on SMTB. They probably belong in the antique jewelry subforum.

I don't post most of my Tiffany jewelry because of all the negative comments and then also the many copies of Tiffany designs, not just the solitaire. I just don't really feel like taking nice photos and putting my things out there for criticism.

LOL... I will forever think of SMTB as.. Show Me The.. yep....

I usually don't post much of my new stuff because I'm lazy.

lol, Dancing Fire, if you want to post a pic of your boobs, go right ahead. The mind clean issue might be a bit compromised though.

If he posts his MOOBS then it would be SMTM.

Me too-most definitely!

...one of my favorite ps threads of all time. I cannot tell you how many times I've perused and been inspired by pieces in this thread!

I do love that thread. I think I posted my own ring in there. When I was looking at engagement ring inspiration, I kept going back to Flopkin's ring. Although my center stone is a tad larger than hers, her pear sides are bigger than the ones in my ring. Our finger size is similar though. I'm a sucker for a RB with pear sides.

Ame, you mentioned H&A stones. My RB isn't an H&A stone either. I did want one but we were able to get a larger stone if we went with a regular diamond rather than a H&A.

Not so much in SMTB, but I have a few pairs of early Georgian black dot Strass earrings, and some early Victorian paste and rose cut diamond earrings that I love but have not yet posted pics of in the antique/vintage section because I'm not sure if anyone would really like them. Also some 18th century Strass set in silver and gold shoe buckles and varying period Cut Steel buckles that I just bought that I'm quite smitten with but others might consider just ugly
I think Circe once said she was interested in Paste in another topic, but I could be wrong... I just don't know if anyone else really appreciates this kind of thing?

I thought that the thread you referenced above might be the one I had been thinking of, Erika, but it wasn't. There was another thread about small engagment rings (to which I contributed) which I would like to see front and center again! It would really be inclusive. I just wish I could remember enough about it to dig it up!

Hey, show me yours and I'll show you mine! I've got an antique rose cut roval that I've never posted here. I love vintage jewelry and I'd love to see yours.

I guess I've really never noticed how many posts are made to big bling as opposed to smaller bling. I enjoy looking at all of it no matter how big or small--so keep on posting! Ive only posted one of my rings in SMTB, I should get my camera fixed and post a few more.

You know, it also occurred to me that although it's fun to look and dream about big bling, let's face it John Q and Jane Q buyer more than likely have much lower budgets. Therefore although they can dream it is nice to look at and get ideas from more budget friendly rings. So again keep posting no matter what you have. :twirl:

Would love to see yours! I'll have to head over to the folks and borrow their camera, mine is awful for close ups.

I agree, I love seeing all sizes of bling, all sizes are beautiful, keep posting everyone!

As long as you're happy with it, that's what matters.

It is neat how many different cuts we see on here. As long as it sparkles, I wanna see it all.

Yes!!!

I am so envious of all the old cuts, AVCs, AVRs and colored stones!

I can hardly even claim to have a collection, and I probably won't get much more, but I just LOVE looking at the jewels, large and small alike. Even if it's not my style!

No way, well not personally anyway. Sure the big expensive bling is nice and all but I love seeing the smaller pieces.
