Is it an “upgrade” to go from 2.64 carat H/SI1 RBC to a 3.01 G/SI2 RBC?

Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if I should even entertain this “upgrade”.
My existing e-ring is a GIA certified 2.64 RBC H/SI1
I have always seen the color.
It’s bothering me so much.
Lately that is…I didn’t see if for the last 18 years!!!!
I just saw a 3.01 RBC G/SI2 that I really liked the facet pattern as well as the color,
Im actually astonished that one color grade could be this appealing to me.
Is it the increase in size coupled with the one color grade that is making the difference for me or am I simply being emotional????
Am I crazy to go down in clarity for a slightly bigger stone with one higher color grade????

Take your diamond/ring in for a professional steam cleaning then look at it again and see if the perception changes.

I realize it’s difficult with such poor photos….
So perhaps your input on just the specs may suffice!

Upgrading even just color alone would still be an upgrade IMO, and you would be upgrading both color and size. What are the proportions of both stones? Is the SI2 completely eye-clean?

I steam cleaned both and admit my existing ring looked much better.
I need to get GIA for the bigger stone and loupe it too.
So I may have posted here too soon…however…just as an intellectual question, would it even be considered an “upgrade”?

Your also upgrading the cut quality likely based on the limited info so its a 3 way upgrade, size, color and cut.
So yea its an upgrade but if its a worth while upgrade only you can decide.

I believe I am attracted to the facet pattern on the 3.01 as it displays (to my eye) a clear hearts and arrows.

compare them side by side in as many different lighting conditions as possible. Ask for a spring ring holder so you can put it on your finger.

It seems to me that the cut of your current stone comes into play more than the color.
Will be interesting to see the stats on the 3.01.

This is what I was thinking, too.

Hope you can compare them side-by-side and that it helps the decision making process.
