As long as you know a J color SI1 EGL is a KL color SI2 or possibly I1 if the stone went to GIA then good luck!

I gotta believe there are better options, of course contingent on your budget ceiling...

What caught my attention was the price it''s near 2300.

The sales person stated, They said it is a beautiful diamond with nice life to it. They also said it is more like an L color and an SI2 but still eye-clean.

Yeah so I''m aware about the EGL grading scale.

Thanks for your feedback.

What's more important than knowing it's a GIA L is knowing whether you like warm colors. They can be gorgeous and lend an antique look to a stone. Make sure you see it in person and decide whether you like the color!

ETA: Can't really comment on the other specs, only to say that it would be really helpful to see a close-up picture, since you can't judge fancy shapes by the numbers. Furthermore, I haven't really seen any IS or ASET images for cushions, so I'm not even sure if that would be helpful. Your eyes are the best judge of how a cushion will look.

I assume you mean the table is 66% not the width???

the table may be on the big side for some people but could be good looking. Numbers are tough to tell for cushions so we will need pics and videos to make a judgment here - otherwise your eyes will need to do the judging (all assuming you are ok with the EGL scale).

Seeing some in person may be helpful as mentioned by Marty. Also is this a cushion brilliant or modified brilliant? Modifieds often lead to that crushed ice look. Check out the videos at Good Old Gold so you can see the difference and what you (or the ultimate wearer) prefers.

lastly, 1.21 length/width ratio will be quite rectangular so be sure that is to your liking as well vs. more square cushion cuts.

Sorry for all the questions but these are all valid considerations when shopping for a cushion cut. there are many quality threads you should read through about the types of cushions and what to look for.

IS or ASET, I have been told, are only really relevant for round diamonds.

Actually, they''re very helpful for other fancy cuts including princess and step cuts like Asschers. I''ve just never seen them used with a cushion.

Well then I stand corrected. I was with Mark Turnowski when he was looking for a few cushions for me and I asked him if the idealscope or aset would help and he said they are used with rounds mostly.

cushions tend to leak light naturally depending on the angle/tilt so finding one with a perfect aset images was an exercise in futility.

But I should have said, they dont work well for cushions rather than exclude all fancy shapes, so you are correct. thanks!

jstarfireb and stone seeker,

Thanks for all the great feedback, on this site I learn something new about diamonds every diamond. This site is awesome beacause of people like you guys that have a lot of great information to share with others that don''t know much about diamonds like myself.

Most definitely, I''m going to stick to GIA cert diamonds just to feel more comfortable.

nice one

You are right SS, that IS is best for round diamonds, those images aren''t considered as useful for fancy shapes as ASET.
